It has 680hp because it NEEDS it to compensate for the extra 400kg weight gain from the W205 C63S
The only thing reliable on a Mercedes is the ESP Warning

Mercedes delivers what no one was asking for. It may have "680 hp" for now, but what about 10 years down the road when the electric batteries degrade and wear down? Then it will be a slow, overpriced, $100k "performance" sedan that will be selling for $10k. Plus, a 2.0 4 banger strung out making 470+hp…..There won't be any room for modifications if you're into that stuff. Yeah, that sounds like a real reliable package right there, smh. The G80 is and will be far, I MEAN FAR, superior. The car still looks good but I really hope it flops with sales so that Mercedes understands first hand that they messed up. Big time.
The new M2 weighing what it does shouldn't make it the new acceptable standard for the weight of performance cars. I'm so tired of these ridiculously heavy performance cars. Even with the technology you still absolutely feel the weight in the handling

It will not age well being so complicated. The thought of a 450hp+ 4 cylinder doesnt really give me much confidence in longevity, let alone with a hybrid component.
This isn’t on the Collecting Cars website. (?) what model year is it? What model family? S214?
They could call it the new C200 AMG or they could return to an efficient petrol 6 or 8 cylinder C63 AMG not something controversial like what has been released.

Most don’t take it to a drag stop it’s to hear v8 sounds and giggle to work or to shop .. now we just can hear ourselves breathing

Its good to have a hybrid but give people a choice, some would rather have 4.0 V8 and no electric stuff.
