I have a ford fusion eco boost I love that car, they don't make it.
I bought it with 5,000 miles on it for 13 grand.
I thought the feds were going to convert all their fleet to evs even the people that mandate them don't want them.
Waiting 4 a 20000 stout) can not afford right now) my house cost 35000) i can sleep ,eat., Bath ,shelter of the element's, an bend there 23yrs) just want a simple truck) that gets me to point a to point b)
Now, in Europe, Ford are just planning on reselling rebadged VW's.
How the once mighty have fallen.
Stellantis should look back in their history to the 70s when they were faltering and came back with small affordable cars, the Omni/Horizon, Reliant. They came about because of a gas shortage. All three of the big three should look at their history and look to volume rather than profit /vehicle.
Some observations I have made regarding electric cars in my area: (I live in Minnesota near the cities, about a half hour away)
-The amount of Teslas that I see on the daily is growing
-I have not seen ANY Ford lightings. I’ve seen 2-3 Mach-E’s but there’s 10x the number of Teslas.
-I have seen several Polestar EV’s and have driven one myself.
-I have seen several Rivian pickups.
My conclusion from this is that the demand is there, but the execution is not correct. I can’t pinpoint exactly what is missing, but my theory is the WOW factor. When you see a Tesla, Polestar, Rivian, etc. it’s a special occasion, akin to seeing a Lambo, or a Ferrari. You want one when you see it because it’s unique and a status symbol. My neighbor bought one used and the whole neighborhood is now following suit. Contrast that with Ford, GM, and Stellantis, when you see a Chevy Bolt or Mach-e you just go ‘eh, it’s just a Chevy/Ford nothing special’ because you know what to expect. You don’t have that with a Tesla, they are like mythical creatures to the average person so everyone’s curiosity is piqued. I willing to bet if Dodge didn’t fumble the Challenger EV they would have made waves among the big 3 because it’s the same as what they did with the Hellcats: made them BIG, LOUD, and Cool, hence everyone wanted one (or stole one lmao) The big 3 need to make a flagship EV that checks all those boxes: Luxurious, mysterious, and attention getting. It has to BE cool for people to want it, which I also think is why trucks got so expensive everyone wanted one since they were a status symbol, but now they don’t since the economy has crashed.
TL;DR: EV needs to be cool and desirable for the average chump.
100k for a Ford truck, with the quality control of a Chevrolet.
But go on strike for more money making this crap
They didn’t loose 1.3 billion dollars. They made 1.3 billion less in profits. They still made a ton of money they can’t pay their investors as much as they would like.
People don't want EV trucks. It defeats the point of the truck. I'd seriously consider a hybrid, but never a full EV.
They should ships all of those Mach-E to Canada. Fords dealership are empty in here and there is a 2 years waiting time for a mach-E. Not joking, I have ordered mine in the end of jully 2022 and I'm still waiting.
A Bronco for $100k 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ford products have sucked for a very long time.
Im glad people are not buying these 70 80 90k cars but i still see to many idiots who do buy them just stop!
I'd take a ford maverick with some options 👌
Ford made their own bed, by removing low margin vehicles in favor of large SUVs, and very expensive EVs, and bilked every cent they could out of the market with their mark ups during covid, and people having 8 year loans. Not to mention higher interest rates now. Oh well.
Nothing for me to worry about, I want to buy me an obs 4 door tahoe or Yukon now. A dealership keeps trying to lure me in to buy the new Silverado but it's just not my style.
$98000 for a pickup truck – huge colossal waste of money.
BIDENOMICS! Gotta love it.
I tell you what. I’m going to buy a ford lightening when I can get one used next fall for $25000 as a local commuter and dump run vehicle. But that’s the maximum price I’d pay and it would have to be less than a year old so the batteries still have a good amount of life in them. Barring that…. I’ll go ahead an buy a used internal combustion vehicle for a screaming deal as the Bidenomics continue to destroy the American economy.
Hmmmm who would have thought with massive inflation of all necessities that the general public wouldn’t be able to afford an $80-100K truck that gets 15 MPG if you’re lucky. If they dont change their greedy tune expect them to ask for another bailout.
Ps
Love the outtakes. 😂
The whole reason Ford dropped cars from their lineup was because they couldn't compete with the foreign automakers. Some people still bought them cause 'muh american brand' but overall they were more expensive and lower quality. I don't think Ford cars are coming back.
Every model needs to marked down 50%
I want a new truck.. 3/4 ton 4wd, 351ci EFI or larger, manual trans, power windows, AM/FM Stereo, ashtray and a cigarette lighter plug……. Thats it
Stop the Electronic car nonsense……no more electronic CRAP in America👎
no truck should be worth that much
I’ll never pay over $45k for a vehicle. Hell, now I’ll never pay over $20k and I’ll buy used if I needed a vehicle. I have 3 vehicles from 2015 to 2019. Screw these stealerships.
They tried making the electric vehicle the “affordable” price point. We said no. So now they are stuck.
These gd car companies are CRAZY AF, middle class can’t afford these overpriced trucks, I hope no one buys them, & I remember when a truck was the cheapest vehicle you could buy, these greedy ass car dealerships are nuts if they think they can gouge prices & still sell stock, the MSRPs are ridiculous enough, then the dealers add 10 grand 😖
All kinds of problems come with EV's so that's why nobody wants them, regular cars are just fine and we need to become energy independent like Trump had us going before the globalists stepped in and did you know what.
Good,now they are like us.
It’s absolutely a dealership problem. They are both equally responsible.
The problem isn't the markup. The problem is what led to the markup. That problem is the consumer.
That helps, but I still like the ford brand!
Greed
I will never buy a new GM, Ford, or what used to be Chrysler. The Unions hire entitled losers, alcoholics, and diversity hires. Their vehicles are crap.
Henry Ford is turning over in his grave
Car manufacturers price gouging even after being bailed out by the U.S. taxpayer is crazy.
From my viewpoint, transition to EVs is not practical. The upfront cost is high, registration and tax is high…there is a significant savings in not buying gasoline but it is lost in paying for electricity and completely lost when it comes matience and repair time…costs are absolutely astronomical to repair or replace which in the end makes owning one have no real advantage. Im better off buying a shitbox and rebuilding it at a fraction of the cost.
Dealers got greedy. Chickens coming home to roost
You keep forgetting mazda
I don't want an EV even if they were GIVING Them away.
I buy a new F150 about every 7 years. No more I'm not paying what thay are asking. I may end up being a Toyota guy and thay cost to much. Who are all these people that can pay 65 75K for a pickup
I've been screaming for the last couple years that the decision to abandon small cars and sedans was a huge mistake. Ford and GM said they couldn't make money on them. Well, Honda, Toyota, Hyundai and Kia can. Once people buy those other brands, when they are ready to move up, they're going to buy a bigger Honda, Toyota, Hyundai or Kia. Good luck with your trucks Ford…
Do you have any info for the F150 HYDROGEN vehicle?
Ford Motor Company 2023 Jan through Sept racked up a profit of about $5 billion. It's not a record breaker but not too shabby. They know what they're doing. By the way, used car sales will hit 35 million units for 2023. Here again a little up from before, definitely not a record breaker but pretty decent numbers.
First these companies need to realize most of the public doesn't want EV vehicles. Second I know very few people that can afford a $40,000 or $50,000 vehicle. I had a hard time putting out $30,000 for a truck 12 years ago, no way I'd pay over $35,000 for a truck today and a truck equipped the same way as mine is is currently over $50,000! Like most people I know most of us will never buy another new vehicle due to the price.
Good reporting. Ford will be just fine. They’re going to let they’re dealers go bankrupt and then they’ll sell direct to consumers at MSRP.
I know the Government supposedly put requirements in plave for required EV made. But I mever understood why a manufacture like ford qould start at the top instead of going with a lower tier car like a focus or fusion type car.
