I worked for chevy years ago. Distributor module, and pickup coil. Had to remove and disassemble the distributor to replace the pickup.coil unit.
I have to say Mr. Eric you are the best Auto Technician, That I have seen on the eastern sea seaboard.
You pay good money for that iwannafix program but use it like a pro as do I, but you and I have to prove it to ourselves because we are real technicians great job once again Eric, this is the only channel I will allow my apprentice to watch lol
And you saved the guy money by stopping and asking if the guy even wanted it fixed… πβ€
Keep in mind that a lot of people are watching your videos either to learn something or for clues to their own problem. That site that provides clues to what possibly could be wrong is just a tool and I suggest using all available tools that are helpful to your bottom line. Love your video's dude.
In heavily regulated industries like nuclear, medicine, airlines, etc, they are typically required to maintain a database of issues (referred to as Operating Experience or OPEX), their causes and the corrective actions they took to fix them. This database is then shared with their peers so they can learn from it to see if they are vulnerable to the same issue, and in cases of serious issues, take similar corrective action prior to their own potential event. So, the use of knowledge learned to save time is no shame. Don't feel dirty. You still used your brain and your own knowledge plenty in this troubleshoot. I always find your videos interesting, insightful and entertaining. Keep up the great content!
Powerprobe chart link?
This is just too hard for a normal person to understand. He does this as a smart and skilled mechanic, but regular folks cannot even follow what he is saying.
Great job Eric!!!!
I have to chuckle at Ericβs guilt for using the hard work of someone else to help him fix a problem. Iβd feel the same way, but shouldnβt. Itβs just a good work ethic shining through.
Your comment about the thermal imager is dead on. π Every time I reach for it the battery is dead from sitting so long without being used. I have quite a few tools like that. Iβve found the pico 30 amp clamp with the larger jaw to be pretty close for parasitic draw testing.
Isn't the object to fix the problem and then to fix it at the most reasonable cost the customer doesn't care how u did it just that u did and if it saves him money he will be that much happier
I've worked doing AAA for 25yrs. I wouldn't trust their equipment as they're battery sales is a big revenue for them!! I don't think it's supposed to test a battery when you're going there to jump start it and the things dead either
What's the name if the program your using and how much is it? Keep up the good work
Silver bullets only work on werewolves, they don't work on vampires, they don't work on zombies. The best thing for a zombie is a shotgun blast. I think a shotgun blast on many of the cars Mr. O works on would be a way to put these "rust buckets" out of their misery.
Unplug everything, right after you hit it with a hammer.
If you can do I can doit.

It's not cheap, it's smart, as it saves time, and time is money.
Identifix is the bomb, no shame in using available knowledge and saving dia time!
Eric O is awesome! My only wishes are that he would keep in mind there is no "s" in "anyway" and "where we are" is correct- no need to add the "at" or otherwise end sentences with prepositions!
The more time u save the better for you.π good find
Great job
No dirt here. You correctly and quickly narrowed a broad field of common offenders, isolated the problem,
Then confirmed it. No shame in using others experience as a guide. Smart imo. Proof before parts. Excellent
How many years did it take you to use idenafix? And having the ability to use all of the things you learned the long way? All of the years of study. Good job
Not a cheat at all. If you worked in a larger shop with multiple techs, you wouldn't think twice about walking over to the next bay and saying to your coworker, "Hey Fred, you had a Honda in last month with a parasitic draw on fuse 23. What did it turn out to be?" Thanks to the interwebs, we all work in a 1000 bay garage… take advantage of it!
Being a good tech is all about utilizing ALL your resources.
