They were able to get in the car they just didn’t want to deal with the interior because of how nasty it was. A 57 Chevy isn’t a hard car to get in especially with an open window. Only somebody who was a complete retard couldn’t get in. The door handles and locks on those cars never went bad. Ive even seen ones pulled out or lakes after years still be able to open the doors with the handles and roll down the windows.
I believe in 1957, as in a few other years Chevy had master keys that are obtainable….Or use any type of string/line fishing through the window on the door locks or door handles…and has been pointed out any locksmith could have opened the doors. But rust is another story. Nice try

I would have broken the passenger window, remove door panel , taken the door handle assembly apart. Sacrificing the door panel and glass are 2 pieces that are available for replacement. Gotta be done sooner or later.
