As the owner of a 2021 Tacoma and a 2021 Gladiator I'm uniquely qualified to speak on these trucks. 2 years of ownership, building them for 39s and lots of hard use has made it very obvious which truck is better build… it's the one with the best parts.
As much as I wanted this Tacoma to be better than the Gladiator, it just isn't. There are still so many more ways that the Gladiator is superior to the Tacoma, I didn't even bring up that the Taco comes with leaf springs 🤦♂️ but I decided while shooting this video that enough was enough.
If you have hard data on reliability please post that in the comments so we all can finally find a reliable source of these statistics.
Until then, the reliability of one vs other is purely speculative. My Taco has had plenty of problems in the last 20k and the Gladiator has only had a cracked windshield but is that typical? This is anecdotal at best, so until we can find some real numbers, I don't want to pretend one is more reliable than the other.
I hope you enjoy the video! This will no doubt be controversial!
Take a video about this , The world is now ruled by one community of people, the world Satanic elite, you can also call them the committee to meet the Antichrist and prevent the 2nd coming of Jesus, Trump called them the deep state, at the moment it consists of about 10,000 people, the main ones there are Rockefellers, Rothschilds, Windsors, Baruchs, they, their ancestors, descendants and other people who enter there have the mark of Lucifer, which, if they bring the antichrist and do not allow the 2nd coming, they will receive eternal life after the x hour, and the rest of humanity, for all the time that they have lived, they won't get anything, so all people should know about the existence of a world government (Jesus who was a The Prophet of God, not God.God will send Jesus as a reward to humanity, if humanity deserves it, for this it is necessary to fight Lucifer and his elite)
What about the Colorado ZR2 Diesel or gas???
As a 2017 2wd OR Tacoma owner I feel like you’re spot on. I bought 2wd with a locker cause I had no intentions to do jeep things. I like high speed wash runs. The solid axels are king for lift, clearance, strength, etc in my opinion. So that’s why now I also own an 80 series Land Cruiser. Jeeps been around for a long time I think they’ve got the majority of things dialed in but I’m just a Toyota guy. Grew up that way and my dad also had a CJ-7 and always claimed it the off road beast. No doubt Jeeps do crazy stuff. But I’ll hope in my Tacoma go to the jobsite, dinner, camp, desert runs, anything that comes to mind and I’ll always be happy with it. Plus the phrase “let’s go places” is kind of unmatched.
hey the gen 3 taco had the least bend of all the bent tacos you showed, just saying
Facts
Certainly like your review
I owned GM toyota and ford 4×4, which model jeep is best for off road build, off the lot obviously. Subscribed, 🇨🇦
I think your lx450 is better than both of these new trucks.
I rely on something is going to break and I am going to want to upgrade it. Great video
Good review
One word. Longevity
So when it comes to reliability you don't want to listen or recognize every single source of information. Denial.
The gas Gladiator has a higher tow rating and payload capacity than the diesel…
What are your thoughts on what the 2024 Gladiator may have in store?
Great video. I didn't own both the same years but I had a 3rd gen Tacoma TRD Off Road (16) sold it to get the (21) Gladiator Rubicon . The Jeep is a way nicer truck in just about every category, it should be it was a lot more money. Engine : Jeep, the newer 3rd gen Tacoma 3.5 has zero low end torque, the older 4.0 L v6 I had in the FJ was better. Transmission: Jeep two extra gears and it does not hunt for gears like Tacoma. Infotainment / Camera's : Jeep Alpine system way better than the top JBL in Tacoma, Camera's on Jeep are clearer imagine. Seating : Jeep again and more head room. More room for rear passengers. Want to run bigger tires, Jeep. You can run 35s on a Rubicon or Mojave stock. I clear mine with zero rub issues with a basic leveling kit.
The Tacoma has more depth in the bed so you can stack more stuff than you can in the Jeep. Both have a ton of after market support. So pretty much a tie there.
I love the retro look of the Gladiator, some do not. Tacoma is the best looking modern truck big or midsize in my opinion.
Both are good trucks but I love my Gladiator. Loved my old FJ but the new Tacoma I had ….well it was fine just way too common.
You goofed on the stock crawl ratio for the JT. You had 3.73 entered when it should've been 4.10s!
If we’re talkin cold hard facts, the jeep’s designed by italians and the tacoma’s designed by the Japanese. I rest my case your honor.
Solid entertainment, and great points. I really like your point about market competition. The Bronco is going to make Jeeps better and seeing the 2024 Tacoma I think Toyota is feeling the pressure.
Excellent, Thx
wait you are taking physical measurements of 2 different machines and using logical conclusions to determine where each is better? omg how could you
Tacoma, Hilux, then Gladiator. For SUV, Land Cruiser Prado, Land Cruiser, and then Jeep.
Tacoma guy here, have owned two. Excellent review very thorough!! No offense taken! :). Really appreciate the factual breakdown
Well here’s the thing. The gladiator will live to be a classic. The Toyota will biodegrade before it makes it there without a million dollar facility to preserve it.
Then you have to take into consideration the frame failures Toyotas experience.
Are you damn good fabricator? Your gonna need to be to keep that frame fishplated as it fails.
Plus the Toyota front end sucks. Broken ball joints, axles that can’t turn the stock size tires reliably and so on. You can’t run large tires on a yota without spending 10-15k and even then it’s only good for 35’s. You’d have to swap that piece of shit diff for a 9” center section or something else capable of turning a tire larger than 35.
Very good video!! I’m a Toyota guy with a lifted 4runner 5th gen TRD off road and love it! But dang, i do love the modification ability of the gladiator and the truck bed!!
I’ve been a Toyota guy, because in my case, they have been the most reliable car manufacturer I’ve owned.
Hey, what's wrong with "the Mexican truck"? 🙁
I want a jeep gladiator customized exactly like the Jurassic Dominion movie. Lol
Lol 25 yr old Nate out cruising looking for a date xD
Lol jk jk
my brother has a Jeep Rubicon on 35’s and I have my Tacoma on 35’s so you can imagine the competitiveness that goes on, but i’ll always take my tacoma over a jeep.
That sums it up for me
I went from a 21 TRD Pro Taco to a 21 Gladiator Rubicon. Never gonna miss that Taco even though I have been a Toyota guy since my first one 79 FJ40. I miss that FJ40. The closest I can come to that (in the pickup truck form) is the Rubicon Gladiator. I am keeping it.
YOU CURSED SHAUN FROM THE STORY TIL NOW!!! At 16:41 you say that Shaun's Gladiator still has the original transfer case behind his new Hemi and it's fine. Four months or so later it grenades and takes chunks out of his Jeep!! You cursed him!! (see time stamp 00:47 in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYzU1yNFivY)
Just newly subscribed to your channel. I love what you did to the taco just recently. Bought a 2021TRD off road The only thing that sucks about the truck is. It's missing The storage compartment. Behind the rear seat, someone must have ripped it out of truck to put like a speaker box back there. Or something and never put it back in other than that love the truck… You wouldn't happen to know where I could get one… Love the Content keep it up.
I've owned both of them, and I like both. But I own a gladiator now and can't see me going back to toyota trucks unless they change how much I have to spend to get it to Really Offroad worthy.
Drive what you want. I'd get an Unlimited or a 4Runner. 🤷🏻♂️🤣 However, I'd share my fire with anyone, regardless of their drive-including a Subaru or Renault. 😉
How do you kiddos in car seats fit ion each of them? Plenty of leg room and what not?
Great information! Thank you
Great video!
I have the ecodiesel. Also and it's a tank, just a sport S ecodiesel and I love it more every day.
Never a issue with overheating or anything like that yet but I don't tow more than a jet ski.
35s and just a small front suspension leveling set up rides great also. I think the taco is also probably much more expensive to play with than a jeep.
No Brainerd getting a gladiator ecodiesel.
What's the fuel economy like on your Jeep with 39s?
I had 3 Gen 2 Tacoma's. I bought a 2021 Gladiator Willys with the select trac transfer case. I did all of the standard upgrades. Bumpers, suspension, rims and tires etc.. The Truck looked awesome. But I did not like how it handled when stock or moded. Just not a road trip truck to me. I sold it last year and got all my money back out of it. Then bought a low mileage off lease stock 2019 Gen 3 Tacoma TRD Off Road. Did basic suspension lift, Rims and 285/70/16 Nitto Ridge Grapplers, YotaWerks Tune and so far in the last year I have put 10k miles on it. It's an awesome truck on road and off. My experience. For what I use it for.
Thank you for your honest opinion!
though my 1999 toyota tacoma trd off road has lasted 450,000 miles and it still runs amazing
Well done …. and i have owned 13 Toyota trucks . Toyota definitely needs to step up their game . Way too much plastic in a truck .
Excellent review 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Weomen would love the Tacoma……….. have you seen women with jeeps? In fact you could argue if women didn’t think jeeps look cool they wouldn’t make them any more
Great video dude. Love the honest review. Huge Toyota fan and love both my trucks but have alot of respect for the new gladiators. Nice work bud, Keep up the awesome content!
I would have to agree with you. The Jeep is superior to the Toyota. And I do love Toyotas, I owned many of them. They are amazing, reliable, but they do need to step up their game and offer something more than they currently do. Jeep needs to improve a few things too. But overall Jeep is still a much better vehicle.
dang….best comparison vid ever….nice job
