Not to mention the no sales in the used car auctions.
Makes less cars for the same money. This means the same profit with less cost of material. It’s called managing inflation. They are using their brands name to manage the high cost of material.
Wanted a RAV4 hybrid but most dealers here are marking them up 10k here in SoCal and ended up buying a Subaru Outback wilderness at MSRP.
Uh.. I remember when Toyota had NO incentives. .NO end of year sales.. nothing.
Thank you. Easy, car company’s are playing this game to make money. And it’s working. Keep all information top secret.
What about Suzuki? Not all your viewers are in the USA. Suzuki is opening new factories in India.
How do you explain that the one major Japanese brand (Suzuki) not available in the West, has global production up 205%?
You should see our local Nissan dealership, only 2 new cars in the lot and around 6 or 7 used American cars
In Nicaragua we have 2 toyota dealers Auto Nica and Casa Pellas Auto Nica sells 100
Toyota Hilux trucks a month and can only get 40 per month currently there is 1750 customers
waiting for there new Hilux to come in. That is a 43 month back log.
Is this in US or Canada?
Please stop with the click bait. I just bought 2 new Toyota 3 weeks apart. They are on the lot, my local dealer had 15 new highlanders alone.
Looking at used Highlanders they are asking full or over MSRP for Highlanders with 20-60 thousand miles. I'm not paying for that. But what am I supposed to do? I refuse to buy an American made car. I've only owned hondas my whole life. 3 civics and an accord. Only other acceptable brand in my mind would be Toyota. Any suggestions. Can't really afford 50K for a highlander hybrid right now
Today in the mail I received a Toyota oil change flyer from my local dealer and on the front was a advertisement about renting a Toyota. The dealership is hurting when they start a "Toyota" rental business.
I'm in the St. Louis area. I just took our 2020 RAV4 Hybrid in for it's scheduled ToyotaCare maintenance, and there were no new cars on the lot or in the showroom. We bought this car in September 2020 and feel enormously lucky that we were able to get the exact vehicle my wife wanted: 2020 RAV4 Hybrid Limited, fully loaded in the color she wanted (both interior and exterior). They had to trade vehicles with another dealership in KY, but in the end we got the car we wanted for a little less than $40k.
I'm wondering if Toyota is ratcheting down sales on ICE vehicles to focus on the growing EV market and how they will address that in the future. I think the writing is on the wall that dealerships as we have known them over the past several decades are going the way of the dodo. I think with the EV market, a lot of dealerships will need to transition to more of a service based industry than that of selling new cars. In other words, they will maintain a service department, but where they used to sell cars, they will focus more on accessories and services surrounding the EV market (fast charging, EV accessories, a place to go buy expensive coffee while your wait for your car to charge, etc.). They'll become more like a gas station/convenience store where you stop to fill up (in this case on electrons) but while you're there you'll buy coffee, soda, chips, snacks, things for your car, etc. Dunno…just trying to understand why someone as successful as Toyota or Honda would be so behind the 8 ball. I think there's more to the story.
Well this will hopefully force people to keep their cars just a bit longer. Time to close the dealership’s move to a consumer direct model similar to Tesla.
Folks stop paying over sticker as your only going to be upside down
Toyota has issues ok. VW is selling their ID4 but shipping them without paid-for features like 360 Camera, folding power mirrors, and digital upgraded sound system. No discounts given for these vehicles.
One of the major factors is the pressures in mineral and metal (trace) resources. As everything from your laptop, mobile phone and even vaping requires the same metal compounds, there is a gargantuan demand which supply can not keep up with. The introduction of the EV has massively intensified manufacturing and mining requirements of a finite resource. The attempted switch from a 'petrocracy' to a 'metalcracy' is folly and we are now seeing how fragile this concept is.
Well the quality should go up
A month ago we ordered a Highlander. In a few days we got a call that one similar to what we wanted was allocated to the dealer, but we decided to wait until we got what we wanted in terms of color and options. Last week, another call came that said the specific Highlander we ordered was allocated and being built in September. It will eventually be delivered by November. We are paying MSRP. This is a $45,000 automobile and we are trading in a 2018 Highlander with 60,000 miles.
Whole bunch of armchair economist in these comments. The suppline chain shock from covid is still very much a problem .
I remember Toyota was unphased during the beginning of the shortage, crazy how times have changed
We are not 3 years past Covid.
Hawaii just opened up the state this past April 2022. But I agree with you that it’s Total BS! That All these auto companies are Creating a deficit of autos for us to buy and that’s a bunch of crap.
I am thinking of buying an electric car in 2023. But the prices are insanely Stupid Criminal Greedy!
And I can’t afford it and I won’t support it and I won’t be car poor!
To Hell with them! Let them go out of Business!!!
And this Deficit of cars at the auto makers United States and around the world Japan included. There’s a bunch of BS because they’re trying to get more for the cars and they’re worth I’m not paying more than $28,000 for a car they could stick it in their ass!
Lithia is out buying these Dealership's and more. Averaging close to $5k on the front end.
Ford stock $12.00 GM $28.00 Lithis $230.00 and they don't build cars.
Holding large grosses over MSRP shows you can sell less units and make more profit.
I was able to buy 2023 Toyota Camry hybrid SE . I waited 3 Weeks and bought it at MSRP. Thank you Auburn Toyota in northern Ca
Well….if you bought a Toyota because of its reliability and longevity, then you shouldn’t trade it in on a new one anyway….unless it’s very old with lots of miles.
First World problem. Buy second hand and save a fortune. No brainer!
Does this apply to Lexus?
You know what guys, screw them, buy a different brand.
So glad I don't buy new vehicles. Although, due to situations like this with new cars, it keeps the price of used cars higher than they should be. That's why I'm following the YAA used car pricing news.

How do people even have money to buy a car? I work full time and can't even afford a $5000 car.
This whole thing has become a joke . I just don’t understand why the production can’t go up
Spoke with a dealer on Saturday, Oct 1 and they get a few allocated each month other than reserved orders. In fact I went in to inquire about the ordering process and by chance almost the exact configuration I wanted (limited, dark grey metallic exterior, with the factory hitch) was going into the build production line on Oct 6 — if I don't choose that, I would be waiting until "Probably mid-December" if I place an order this week. the financing rates Toyota is offering on new vehicles are still pretty appealing compared to buying used — 2.49% if you do 48 months or less
Only an idiot would spend 10 grand over sticker and be so desperate, same clowns probably have major debt and will be evicted soon
So is now the time to buy, new or used, even if it’s at the beginning of the month? I’m looking to my a 4th gen rav4. Should I wait til the end of the month like advised? Or now cause of lack of inventory?
I guess I got lucky. I just bought a 2023 Camry about 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately they charged $2,000 over MSRP.
Everyone will be going to direct order. Dealers will be dead.
what the heck man why they got to mark up a Toyota sienna by 10k over msrp
You mentioned Honda, and a little birdie told me that there are some Hondas in Ohio that are fully built, but are technically not "drivable".
No key fobs lol. Not sure what was wrong with the old school ignition switch and blade key but hey, gotta put those semiconductors unnecessarily in something else like a key now. x-D
I asked my local Toyota dealer few days ago, any chance on a RAV4 Hybrid? They said hybrid or non hybrid will be about 9 months from now if you order one this week, they said a Camry though will be ready to take home in 4 weeks if I order right now. 😪 I Don’t even wanna ask about a highlander lol that might be a 2 year wait 😂
wow I'm sure happy I ordered a Tundra February and got it in May for MSRP
Good news shit car maker should be collapsed as soon as possible
