This car is an IQ test.
Very interesting car but the leg support seat is so short , same as chr.
I took delivery in May and after the recall got it back in November 2022. Drove it 1000mi through California on thanksgiving weekend and in 50-66F temps I was able to achieve 3.2mi/kwh over the course of 191mi which would have made for a theoretical range of 211mi with the nominal capacity of 66kwh. 70-73mph on HWY 99. It definitely gets better in warm weather. Charging at 60F on the Elk Grove EA peaked at 57kw. Fastest I've seen my CATL battery car charge is 87kw. I like it over all.
The new Prius but in EV form would be the way to go.
This video came out at a bad time..
Now the TMY LR with bells ans whistle cost less.
But fine car, just a bad EV.
In short:
very good car
very shitty EV
He used to be 1 meter 86, now he's 1 meter 89! Don't know what he is taking, but he's definitely growing 🙂
We ALL known that Toyota make the most reliable vehicles top notch automobiles plus is real technology giant with a palmares that tesla will never have PERIOD!! ONLY requires a functional brain and the hill to expose the LIES behind the MUSK tesla /SPACE x , etc etc, a corporate schemers tools 4 AGENDA 2030.
I'm sure it is a lovely vehicle….It's a Toyota….And I'd love to have one even with the lower range and unacceptable charging times for the right price which for me would be around $30,000 or less….But that price tag of $50,000 coupled with the unacceptable stats for that price is a nonstarter for me.
I've been to the Toyota dealer for a regular service a month ago. And they have said that this electric model has been stopped from orders. You can not order it anymore, at least in Bulgaria. And that Peugeot style steering/instrument cluster design is just not for me. A steering wheel that low in order for me to see clearly the instruments is like sitting in a child's car toy with pedals.
Toyota needs to invest in a new wind tunnel, none of their cars can handle wind noise.
This car cannot be left outside during the winter night at -10 as there is no pre-heating battery management so you wont be available to charge if you need after, that is major downside for this vehicle, huge disappointment from toyota…
Test drove a 2wd version while my rav4 was in for a service. I completely agree with you about the cars driving dynamics and I liked it. The deal breaker for me was the coupe styling on the back. I have a golden retriever and the rav accommodates large dogs well but the bz4x is little cramped in the boot for him. Also I agree the rear seats are too low. I've put a deposit down for a rav4 phev instead. Hopefully should arrive by .May. Great video, thanks.
Really nice looking car, but wheel arch's are ugly. Any version without those black covers?
You told us the acceleration numbers, why do you pretend this car is "sporty?"
No one is buying this too expensive car with poor range and recharging and acceleration.
hope its wheels won’t fall off
no glove box? 😳
but toyota only like gasoline cars 🤔 wouldn’t trust their ev’s…
Hi, Thomas – I watched your review of this car before the recall – Your explanation of the fix that Toyota did on the wheel nuts is excellent. Keep up the good work.
We live in the Netherlands and ordered this car with the intent of using it for land trips to Scandinavia. We test drove it and I really liked the handling.
Outstanding. This is the most useful BZ4X review I have watched to date. Thanks for focusing on several important aspects.
Excellent review nice bz4x i owned a venza hybrid limited 2022 model i really love it good on gas very comfortable and quiet lexus like interior materials thanks for your video take care bye from milton Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
love this car
a thousand times better than Tesla Model Y in every way that matters to real people
like looks and reliability
not made by evil Musk
Seems to be inferior to Tesla Model Y and even Hyundai Ioniq 5 in virtually every regard for the same money (or more if you spec it equivalently)
I had an announcement reservation for the Subaru Solterra and once the specs and detailed images came out I cancelled. This is a horribly disappointing vehicle as marketed under the Subaru brand.
No spare tire is a no no for any SUV/CUV – simply no excuse for that level of cheapness at the price point. The range is also a joke for anyone who might actually be interested in going out into nature – especially for an EV. The charging speed reflects that Toyota cheaped out on the ability to pre-heat the battery.
I am not a fan of Toyota design language and the mascara stains, the excessive cladding, the busy body lines are off putting. The interior is just bizarre – it looks cramped as well. In another review it was quite obvious the switchgear was cheap in its feel. Piano black is also not wanted – it will scratch and mar up with fingerprints quickly.
The first thing that went through my head when I saw this design was “what were they thinking”.
Needless to say I kept my Outback and will wait for a better Subaru designed model instead the badge engineered Solterra.
Hard pass.
Thomas, let’s see you test an Outback Wilderness.
Stop showing you, show the car. Saying good is just an opinion. Stick with the technical description.
That sounds pretty small I own a sedan and it measures at 196 inches
Hello, I have test driven the BZ4X twice so far. Everything is great about the car. But the consumption is very high and the battery runs out very quickly. As you have a good contact with Toyota Germany I would like to ask you to forward this feedback so that an update can be made to the cars and this problem has been fixed.
😃😃😃😃😃
Woke up this morning to 32” of new snow overnight (northern Ontario), I have the Subaru version, got it on the road before the plow. I can only put the handling down to the actual weight of the vehicle as it handled the snow better than my Outback. No slippage at all at 100Km/h, my Outback would be being pushed around a little at that speed and depth of snow, especially in heavy snow like it is.
They use BYD technology inside .
Subaru Solterra IS much more better, than this car (and look much more better)!.

Toyota is looking at buying canoo to boost their EV push
That warranty is ridiculously good! We don't get anywhere near that in the States. Just the standard 8yr/100k mi battery warranty.
How do you know that when you turn on the heating the range doesn't actually drop by 100km?
Dismal battery size and charging capabilities! WTF Toyota!
With the current trend towards large battery size and good charging capabilities, I believe Toyota has totally blown it with the specs on this new EV.
Once my wife realised this car had no glove box, it would be sent back to Toyota and wanting her money back.
Unfortunately, this model is very expensive.
Bz4x is a piece of Shxx
That was a good review. Thank you The car is a lot more compelling than I thought it would be. Good to know they fixed the "wheels falling off" issue.
一坨狗屎,在中国降到12万人民币都卖不出两位数
This guy Is adorable 🥰 great review.
so conclusion is.. 160 miles to 180 miles range in winter. Thanks for video. it is pretty sux..
Love this presentation and your accent. Hopefully there will be some cheaper variants. MG is good at selling cheap evs. I've decided to postpone getting a new car for another 2 years, since Toyota is late too the EV party.
1 electric vehicle uses 93 hybrid vehicles worth of battery and 5 plug-in hybrids. So you make one BEV and you lose 93 hybrids. The latter will have a far greater impact on carbon emissions reduction. Hybrid is still a 100% the way to go. $14 for 40 mins of charging cost almost as much as a combustion engine. Not to mention the convenience of gas stations and the ridiculously long range of a Hybrid. I get 550 miles range on my 2022 RAV4 XSE and it's an AWD and I love the way it drives.
HEV's make no sense at this point, may be they will in 20 years.
No BYD
