@Edmunds. The best phevs overall on sale are the ones that aren’t from Toyota or Lexus.
after this kind of laughable presentation, edmunds… you're outa here.

For the Rav4 Prime being #2 on the list you did a very poor job on your review 😭
I think Toyota's hybrid powertrains are the perfect balance of efficiency and reliability so they've always been compelling choices.
Don't buy the hybrid crap….. Just shows people are completely clueless….
There are a lot of strange picks on this list. I was thinking it would be about hybrids and plug in hybrids that get great gas mileage. In several cases, that was not the case. I mean, the Accord and Tucson? And when the Accord did worse in the real world testing than the Lexus? I would also want to pick vehicles based on reliability.
Looking at the compact and subcompact SUV market, and having test drove a few options from the Mazda CX-30 and CX-50, Kia Seltos, Trailblazer, Subaru Crosstrek (I know, not hybrids), the 2023 Kia NIRO HEV EX Touring won us over with it's performance, 50 MPG average, tech, surprising amount cargo and leg room. Not technically a sub-compact SUV, but it definitely fits/competes in that market. Give that little gem a couple more inches of ground clearance, and better off-road tires, then get rid of the Seltos (which we didn't like one bit), and Kia has a category changer. But even as-is, the NIRO is a sleeper sub-compact SUV option.
My 2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid now has 11,000 miles on it. In combined driving, I am getting 41mpg. I drive the speed limit at all times, (75 on interstates in Arizona, and 70 in California), and use the ECO setting always,(plenty of power). Roomy, powerful, comfortable and a 530+ mile range on a tank… don’t know how to beat it!
ICE: dirty production, very dirty fuel, very dirty combustion
EVs: very dirty production, dirty e-power
Hybrids: lets combine both
already today EVs have the potential to a reduced carbon footprint from raw material mines to scrapyard compared to ICE. hybrids not a chance, even worse.
An electric vehicle has already emitted 10 to 20 tons of carbon dioxide before it gets to your driveway because of all the massive oil/gas/diesel machines used to mine the raw materials. 500,000 pounds of mined mineral and rock is necessary for one battery. People in poor countries, including children, mine out the raw materials for hybrids. My pick is gasoline in my 4Runner.
Why not mention trucks?
Hey edmunds cars you should do a suv mega test with them all from different price ranges electric and gas , offroad capable and soft road capable etc
Where’s the plug in hybrids with 40 kwh battery packs and 120 mile all electric range? I need way more than 36 miles of all electric to do my daily commute.

A list of best hybrid cars without the Prius? This is a joke
I have questions on the Pacifica. There are constant QC issues with Fiat Chrysler, and I can't get over that when looking at the price point of a plug in. It's just so risky to me.
Hmm… I have a 2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited Hybrid, and I get about 40 mpg… Hmm… Maybe I just got lucky…??? 🤔
What happen to the Corolla or civic hybrid? The accord edged out the Camry? Not even a mention of the highlander?
Jah jah come on Edmonds
I'd take the new 2023 Outlander PHEV, love it's versatility.
Why u didn’t say above outlander phev 2023. This is best among all phev I believe.
We have learned it is best to test drive each top pick at least 3 times over several weeks, to help make the differences stand out more. Take a longer drive at 70 mph for seat comfort, and try out the speakers. Pay attention to steering and braking feel, tire and wind noise, and how easy it is to change settings. We appreciate the vehicles with blind spot monitoring in the side mirrors, and heated seats, especially if available for the mid level model.
Do not buy pacifica hybrid. Mine stopped on a freeway. Bought it brand new 4 months ago. 5k miles. Now it needs a new transmission. And this is a common issue. NHTSA is investigating this issue because too many people reported the same problem.
Why does it sound like 'hondai' when it's spelled 'hyundai' – at least car people should try better than that.
The Pacifica is so flawed: fire, highway stalls, transmission. You name it.
" You are a Hybrid,,,half idiot,half moron…Johny tight Lips
Cost efficient
shes certainly easy on the eyes.. i think "diversity" is nonsense but this is my idea of variety, gentlemen =D
