Ive been fighting this sound in my 220i 2015.
It began as two tac tac and RPM variation within the first begin within the morning, then the automotive labored regular, even when the automotive has a rattle sound (like marbles in a can).
I took the automotive for a check-up, and earlier than the mechanic might hear the noise, he observed that the timing chain was utterly free, so he changed the timing equipment because it was usually worn out.
The issue is that now the noise is louder and extra frequent. The mechanic instructed me that, sadly, it appears the earlier proprietor did not preserve the automotive correctly, and as a result of poor oil high quality, the chain obtained broken together with the VANOS gears, and that the noise is particularly from the VANOS.

I wish to know if anybody right here might give me a second opinion, as a result of paying for a timing chain restore after which a VANOS restore… I hope somebody can information me.
