Well, according to an engineer I once worked with, to make the trucks lighter. And once again I believe that all engineers should have to work in their desired fields for at least 2 years as an simple worker. And then given the diploma. Or never allowed to procreate. 😢
Idk of its true on older vehichles but cars made in the factory have jigs made for fast assembly amd the wholes correspend to mounting points for the jig.
My staion wagon back in the day had a lot of random holes appear out of nowhere after i let a friend drive it over into Mexico. Some of them had lead in them. Very mysterious….
"RUSTY JONES" Treatment As well as "ZIEBART" Rust Proofing . It was a great idea . Until it started gumming up the Automatic Seatbelt Tensioners ,thus causing injuries in auto accidents.
The random mystery holes!

Okay what happens to the wax when you're in the sun and the car is baking
Ziebart , does that
One big candle.
Ziebart rust proofing
And it did not work very well, did it?
That's why they dipped the body and paint now Why don't the black Knight try the metal on everything
Ziebart Undercoating was a dealer option.
Not wax. Rust proofing. Wax would melt.
they also let the flood water out
Why dod it not work?
My Dakota doesn't have these. Probably why its fkn falling apart. 😂
I thought if you get in a flood the water can have a way to come out
At the Ford dealer I worked at we sprayed rust proofing which was black like tar.
It was a painless dead repair guy that didn't know how to do his job right
Seems like rubber coating or any solid like wax would eventually delaminate and allow moisture in and trap it. Very destructive situation.
Mine are there because i got a new drill and like drilling holes everywhere for seemingly no reason.
Ziebart and Rusty Jones holes. You show your lack of age when you wonder about such things.
It used to be called Z-bar rust proofing.
Zebart
Ziebarting Back in The Day
When did we stop galvanizing 😓

Dim speed holes
what about foam?
I thought it was for weight reduction. 🤔
Squirt oil in there
For under coating like Ziebart used to do
