Electric No not Enough Room For batteries
Sounds like an electrical issue, an electrical interlock with the transmission. A wiring diagram would be good. Contact Aston Martin UK for a diagnostic punch list. I would start with the electronics control module of the car and diagnose what signals need to appear to allow the car to be put into gear.
The car is a timeless beauty, you have multiple options, factory Manuel shift conversion, other transmissions ( suggestions have already been mentioned in the comments ). The Viper V10 sounds very intriguing, you now have a new viewer and I am along for the ride.

Your process sounds a bit silly for a knowledgable car guy. Way too many unanswered questions. Since money does not seem to be a problem, I would put in a giant, monstrous engine and a bullet proof transmission. My aim would be to create the fastest Aston Martin ever to terrorize highways. I would make it acceptably quiet but ready to sprint to 250 mph if you asked it to.

Make an trans adapter plate for another transmission ! Or Put a newer Jaguar motor and trans init !I am motor fan thou twin turbo viper and trans it is ! ❤
Instead of the viper v10. How about a hellcat v8 with super charger.
I think you should have someone scan the back of the motor and have an adapter plate kit for a GM transmission made for it. Then, make sure you let everyone know that you did it after it's installed and working.

I saw an electric Cobra at a C&C @ Canepa years ago … my initial response is Why? Don't get me wrong, I've been driving a Model S for 8 years and love it. The motor makes an Aston Martin, keep it. I am also a fan of V-10s, but this car needs a V-12.
