I would buy the 93k euro silver ferrari and upgrade its body kit rather than buy this wreck for 60k euros
He has got to be daddy of the year
Watching in Dallas,Texas,US.
Your Dad has such a friendly understated personality. So knowledgeable and he must be very proud working with you on this journey
It’s becoming an engineering education channel. Bravo Mat!
I have very little car mechanics experience but I wanted to learn more so a few years afp I took a three cylinder head out a Peugeot, skimmed it, replaced the seals and grinded the valve seats and put it back together. Learnt a heck of a lot about how engines worked. Replacing the collets on the valve springs was a total pain.
Am I the only one who noticed when he honed tge cylinders there was no cross hatching done?
Hello! Have you already did PT 5? Its that I can’t found it…
5000 pound in india rupees 5 lack 5 thousand 😮😮
3:57 "according to google only about 1,500 were made so that makes this pretty special" ^^ google search on screen says 15,000. 🤦♂️that makes it only 1/100th as special as he thought. 😩
baffles me how geezers know so much about engines. I feel like you need a lab coat and some autism to know this much.
As a non mechanic, am so amazed you did such an engine restoration with relatively simple tools. Grats to the crew🎉
The cylinders aren't supposed to be smooth. It needs to be scored in a cross pattern so a layer of oil will stick to it to prevent wear.
Range of cars you are repairing going up higher in class, what’s the end!!! 747 lol
Mat, you should invest in one of those dry ice cleaning machines. You can transform the undercarriage to like new condition without damaging the original stickers and paint marks.
That mic work made me wince
Whats Tonys background in? Hes very comfy engine building
I’d love to see how this has held up.
Oil behind the bearings? Yikes. That’s a no go in everything I’ve ever seen and done. Asking to spin bearings. Also, the Loctite 518 for the crankcase seal has to go to the INSIDE of the bolt holes or it’s a lifetime oil leak. Not everything is for amateurs. Internal high performance engine building is not for the inexperienced or faint of heart.
15:24 never wire wheel valve stems. only soak in strong solvent over night to loosen up carbon, and thoroughly wipe off gunk
19:17 you are supposed to put a 45° cross-hatch.. the cylinder isn’t supposed to be smooth, it’s actually supposed to be textured 😅😅 lapped valves with smooth cylinders is a recipe for some smoke 💨
"Boomper" <3
I guess you figured the torque specifications out? If not it’s down to the ring gaps which calculated from the bore size x-factor.. if you want more information let us know.
Wait no ball honing ? Or cross hatches ? It must be a Ferrari thing if right lol
Brilliant safe and simple way ro install your collets!
60k for that junk is too much. Maybe 40k max.
My Dude love the videos you make and i must say you have the greatest girlfriend and family and friends that help you in your building.
you guys in the UK are awesome, made alot of friends over there since I have an AUDI TT ROADSTER here in florida
I wouldn’t ever assume with how that car had been used as a parts car that the disassembled engine was the original engine anyway. Especially with the cylinder wall scoring.
Ferrari is overrated
Great work Mat. I am new to the channel and I am hooked with your videos. Keep it up!
Matt you need a granite surface plate in the shop
The bigger valves are always the intake valves, the smaller are always the exhaust. Loving the vids mate.
Is this what you do for a living?
Love from India bro i love your addiction and pamper towards these exotics amd gaving them a new life 💗 hope i get a chance to meet you once in my life @mat armstrong
Epic start to the new year !
Your dad deserved that. Well done Matt. Bet your both so proud
What a brilliant video. He deserves it!
just pointing out you said were you live in 20:30 please fix this so you don't get doxed
is Matt adding Amapiano music to his videos;}?
Wow what a guy! What a lovely gesture ❤
I watched all the videos about RS6 (and cant wait for an update). Now I am on the F430 and I have to say, this is so nice to watch…. you working with your dad, the passion, the smiles, the approach towards any kind of problem. Thats an example to everybody. I can imagine that in normal garage it is just about nerves, swearing and pressure but this is genuinely pleasant to watch. Big thumbs up and keep up the good work 🙂
cheers from Slovakia
No me aguante y vengo del canal en Español😅
Please tell me someone went back through that engine and correctly crosshatched it. 😮 If not, it's going to be one smoking fool of a motor and drink oil like its got a habit.
Is there a video about your dad and why he’s so knowledgeable? He’s like an Engine Buddha
Would love to here more about how he has all that know how in his cranium
It's not grinding, it's lapping compound. You lap the valves in place.
