Bunch of nothing
I'm watching this for you, [my(?)] Honda girl.
Have a 2020 honda civic sport. Be prepared to buy an aftermarket infotainment system. I was back to the dealership 5 times and they wouldn't replace it. Mitsubishi made a garbage head unit. People couldn't hear me on phone calls. The dealership replaced the microphone in the head unit and it still didn't work right. It would go black etc etc. Not a single problem other than that, nothing. And it doesn't matter what brand or make it is. I always look up the owner reviews. Honda and Toyota just recently have had some bad years. Yes, the quality has gone down. Certain models were terrible.
I've owned 6 Hondas and 6 Toyotas. I think that Toyota has better body integrity and Honda has better engines. As far as maintenace goes, it's a tossup. 🤷
Car brands don’t means Reliability.
I’ve seen over 5 million Nissan Altimas with over 800k individual miles on each, used as taxis in New York.
All my Range Rovers have gone over 300k miles.
What cars do you think they drive in 3rd world countries where they don’t maintain or service vehicles ?
Good vid and good advice…buy a good quality vehicle like a Toyota or a Honda and take care of it. That's the whole ball game. And yes, as a Toyota owner I can affirm that Toyota owners are smarter than most people. 🙄 One thing though, the number of cars of a certain brand brought in for service tells you nothing. If Toyotas are more popular in your general vicinity than another brand, you're going to see more Toyotas brought in. If the number of vehicles of a certain brand being brought in for service was salient, then Detomasos must be the most reliable car in your vicinity. 😎😎
As an owner of Hondas and Toyotas for the last 30 years I can testify that Toyotas are superior in the overall quality of the product… I also work for a company that sells auto parts and I have asked a large number of mechanics:
Among all the Cars, which one is the best of all? 100% have told me, there is no car like the Toyota!
i want to work in your garage….i am a Mechanic
The lesson I learned was that no car lasts for ever. I would definitely take a 150 000 mile 10 year old landcruiser over a 50k 5 yr old Range Rover. Sadly I thought that buying a 25 year old landcruiser would mean a similar experience. It didn't.! No disrespect to the car but when a well engineered part fails its going to cost more than on a car with a lower life expectency. I realised I was infact paying for the previous owners 20 odd years of happy trouble free motoring. I still see a few old few high millage landcruisers for sale for even higher money now. I'm amazed by how quickly they get snapped up. Their reputation is almost too good. I have seen quiet a few in need of repair so my experience wasn't unique.
The worst thing about Honda and Toyota, at least here in Norway, is that the chassis rusts like crazy. I mean, after a year it can look really bad down there if you don't use things like mercasol or tectyl when it's brand new at the import site. I've been looking for a used 2014-2015 civic, but have given up, all i've looked at are rust buckets. Please do your research when looking at used hondas and toyotas, do not trust the dealers, most of them are crooks.
93 civic 350k, 06 CR-V 240k, 21 hrv, 36k. For me it's Honda or nonda!!!!😅
My question is…why are they being brought in? For repair of bad parts or maintenance? Most people I know that go out of their way to get a honda or toyota wants them to last…so they maintain them regularly and really get more mileage out of them!
heck i bought a 95 corolla with 255k few days ago for its reliability and its barely broken in
Perhaps giving the median would give a better picture, as the extreme lows and extreme highs skew the picture. Another thing that would be of interest are the top two or three repairs for each car mfg.: 1) maintenance stuff like brakes, struts, CV joints; or 2) engine repairs, transmission repairs; or 3) diagnostic work for driveability issues.
Honda quality dropped in the last 10 years. Toyota is quite reliable.
Toyota for my money
Hi you go look up Toyota mark x 2500cc
Kidney mass
As a loyal toyota/ lexus owner, it is sad to hear the quality of the material workmanship has declined. However, we do still take responsibility for our maintenance to have them last as long as possible.
Can't go wrong with either Toyota or Honda. I own both and are cheaper to maintain. I've own MB, BMW and Audi before. Pretty expensive to maintain specially after 75000 miles.
We lack the figures for how many hondas and toyotas in that part of Utah… so we can get the ratio of how many really goes to the shop…
I am glad you drive a Ford truck!!!!!
ruc
Thank you for your video
There are Lies, Damn Lies and Statistics! How is this related to reliability? What were the reasons for the repairs?
Hate when an idiot use a great tittle to then say I don't have an answer….
Well if you know that is the end result, change the dam tittle.
My 2002 Corolla has more than 770000 Km and still running well
TOYOTA LC
The new Hondas suck. I got in a wreck and my alternator moved out of place.
You just advertise your shop more than comparing Honda and Toyota
if the number of sales is accounted for, Toyota is more reliable. Honda sold 1.3m and Toyota sold 2.2m cars in year 2023. Toyota sells 70% more but the repair rate is less than 25% more.
so i owned a 2008 camry le that i traded in, at the time it had 336,000 miles..i was still going strong, but due to the nature of my work , i wanted to make sure i had a reliable car, and lets face it when you get up into that kinda mileage anything can happen. to give you an example i didnt have to replace my alternator until about 285,000, besides that i had a few wheel bearings that went bad in the rear, but other than that it was ,tires, oil and brakes for the most part. The new car I got was a used 2020 honda accord lx with about 24k miles on it,so far its a very reliable car. ive put on about 20,000 miles in 6/7 months. the only thing i have noticed so far is the engine makes more noise then the toyota. as far as the power on demand it is not an issue , plenty of power when i need it. i have read about issues with the head gasket, but at this point it does not present a problem. as you can see i drive a lot of miles,so I am getting oil changes like every 3 to 4 weeks. the good part about that is that if there are issues they will be caught sooner then later. But, I expect this car to go over 300k miles. I am diligent with my maintinece and if there is an issue i dont let it linger,if i need things done they get done. Also, just wanted to mention to people who take their cars to the dealership,DONT…unless you like wasting money. the only thing i go to the dealership for are the oil changes , the dealerships have realized they are getting hammered , so as a loss leader they get you in the door with a competitive quote, then they go to work on you lol. I cant stress how important it is to find a good, reliable and fair private mechanic. sure , you will kiss some frogs but eventually you will find your prince.
Contemplating the purchase of a late model used Honda CR-V so this information and the others (CVT and Oil) is a huge help for me. I presently drive a 2013 Dodge Charger SXT 3.6 L VVT. I live in South west Ontario on the shores of Lake Huron – we see some very interesting winters!! LOL I change the synthetic oil every 3,000 – 5,000 KM because of the rocker arm issue. I presently ave 197,700 km on it and it still runs great. Some repairs have cost me more than I had hoped – hence the lean toward going with a Honda.
Smelly beard over face while effing… Divorce?
I've owned just 3 Hondas since 1988. First was an '83 Honda Accord LX hatchback that 269K when I sold it in 2000. Next was a 1999 Civic LX sedan that had about 230K when I sold it in 2015. I now have a 2013 Accord EX that just turned over to 188K. I love Honda. I think they have better styling than Toyota. Toyotas run smoother and quieter, but I love Honda styling.
Meaning Toyota got more cars in the streets damn 75 oil change
toyota 100%
I've owned both a Honda Civic and a Toyota Corolla. I love(d) them both, but enjoy driving the Civic more than than the Corolla
This video based on the statistics is completely meaningless! Just because of the volume of a particular make of vehicle without knowing the total population of that make of vehicle out in the wild, doesn't give you a true indication of reliability! In addition, many vehicles could have just comemin for normal scheduled maintenance and that would have counted innyour records as a service! And the cost numbers are completely useless as well for many reasons!!!
Instead of recounting what the owners of each make spend on average when they come in, you should really segment the data into actual repairs vs. normal maintenance! That would be a better indicator for overall reliabilty when you only look at repair costs and not maintenance costs!!!
Does this include Acura and Lexus with Honda and Toyota respectively or is it just the 2 brands?
The less frequent "statistic" doesn't mean much without being weghted by how many cars of each make are there in the population that may use your shop. Also, I suspect that there are way more big cars for Toyota (trucks and big suvs) this will push their average cost of repair up. In any case it was great to see real data in these YouTube reviews
Honestly they’re both great brands and since I knew they were both reliable I chose Honda because I liked the way the car looked vs the Toyota but I can see me getting a Toyota in the future my brother drives an 01 Avalon and it is one of the smoothest rides I have had while driving honestly can’t go wrong with either
So what’s more reliable ?
