Jeeeesus man, why not just cut the floor pan out at that point? You're going to spend years puzzle piecing it together, and the more welded area will give more area for oxidization. On the jeeps we work on, floor pans are a common rust spot and it's waaay easier to just cut the old pan out, spot weld and seam seal a new one in.
‘84. Tons of rust? I guess living in Arizona I don’t expect rust. Ever. I have a rust free ‘77 MGB. Probably the only one in the world.
Tape the backside JB weld the rust holes done in 30mins
It is easier to put the shields on top of the body floor the same. Double tougher. Exposed primers after welding works. 10 years will hold while the corrosion slowly continues. It seriously long stop corrosion rust. As in the old days, 50 per year of hot aluminum directly corroded areas. Aluminum in a very liquid hot form is poured into a deep place of corrosion rust. Stop for many years.
Metal and aluminiun forever
22g. . . . That is entirely too thin of metal, but you do you. . .
use copper or aluminum as a backing so u dont blow holes.
Are these cars really worth this level of restoration?
It's a nibbler
😂 this is hard to watch just replace it in one large piece not lots of small pieces me personally if it’s got lots of rot just cut and graft a new panel in
Just wonder was it not possible to cut and replace bigger pieces instead of playing with tiny bits
22 gauge way too thin. 18 gauge allows more heat into it and more surface area to linish
this is like welding up a strainer
They make floor repair panels that would allow you to replace the entire sheet metal of that section of the floor
I saw a horse in the first 1-2 seconds….
I would just buy a new car. Welding and restoration jobs like this cost waay much more than monthly car payment 🥹
