Do you think this 260z is worth restoring and if so, how much do you think it would cost?!
New gas, spring g for points and plugs. A potential beast with a couple Weber carbs.
Squirt some pile in each cylinder
Ready to go
first, you should use a foam spray to loosen the dirt then rinse and wash again.
DEVIL Z

Those flat top carbs were the problem on the 260z, but you should get something with the starting fluid. Check the spark at the plugs….
This car is like a dream come true! Most of us Z fanatics find cars that need everything, including all the floors. Super clean car! I bet you've had tons of offers…
Keep the black DATSUN knob, that is original!;they did also use a wooden knob with a 4sp pattern. That's an aftermarket. Pitch it
Also the shift pattern, reverse isnon the right
definitely worth restoring–these cars were way ahead of everybody back then–handlers with good power. cost? $6000. sell it for 12K here in CA
drain the gas tank ,replace all filters, points and condenser.
Check the fuel pump is running making sound and the fuel pump relay inside the engine compartment passenger side next to the little light
It's kinda funny. One of those cars I was meh about for a long time but they are growing on me.
Exact same color as my old 260 but mine thankfully was rust free. Wish I still had it.
I think this was my car at one point. What ever became of this car?
GREAT MACHINE BUT!!! THE 70 240 WAS THE….CHERRY TO GET YOUR HANDS ON.
After my '72 240, I owned actually 2 new 260's. The first one was one of the very first that had an ugly wad of wires under the dash on the passenger side that indicated it was the first of the new electronic ignition systems that had an irritating habit of just dying on the road with everything electronic like the tac dying to zero. The paint was bad too, so I was given a replacement later 260 with a fixed electronic system that wasn't intruding into the passenger foot area and the green paint, while not as cool as the silver, at least didn't peel, lol. I did get rid of it for a new CJ-5 jJeep when I got to Arizona for USAF pilot training! When you tuned up to '72 specs it ran better than the 240. The stock stearing wheel was black vinyl, like the whole interior, unlike the 240. The original wheels were steel with covers and those were the smaller bumpers of the 260 line, the later biggies were really ugly. When tuned to '72 specs, it ran way better than the '73 which was a dog.
***Guys, there is an electronic module that feeds the coil in the early 260's that would go dead. That may be your problem. See if there is a huge wire bundle under the dash on the passenger side. That may fix it for you. Good luck!
Really good score, buddy has one. Clean up the fuel system real good.
Also, wooden shifter knob!
These cars are known as rust buckets far worse than yours, yours in good Nick compared to most out there.
The car has a choke on carbs, look for a knob on console, also on carbs unscrew black knob fill with trans fluid Lubs slider inside carb
Is it worth saving? The answer is ¥%#& yeah it is.
Restore it!
I got a rare 260Z Coupe RHD for sale. Rust free never been restored. I own the car the car since the early 80 and it's never been driven in the rain and always been garaged.I bought it in Australia and shipped it to Germany in 1991.
It has got a 2.8 L engine and 5 speed gearbox. no cracks in the dash. I do have 2 additional 2.6l engines and many new and used pares.
I am too old for it now. If anyone has any interest feel free to ask. Will chip worldwide. Pics available.
Easily a 20K resoration
Hell Yes!!
There's a bunch of Datsun Fans out there that will pay good money for the car you have.
SUPER JAIME 'S DATSUN.
LISTEN MAN, do not take this thing on the wangan.
Holy shit these guys are cringe.
great car
😳 ola eu do Brasil fiquei encantada com a transformação ficou lindo vocês tem mãos magicas parabéns 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
in the 1980s KITT was almost not a Trans Am they were going to use a Dotson and they were going to cast Don Johnson instead of David Hasselhoff
Put the rear bumper back on. The car looks awful without it as it was in some kind of accident. Keep it all ORIGNAL as possible
I love that car!!!!
And l like watching our videos entraining!😊
This is quickly becoming my favorite car cleaning channel on YouTube.
My advice: Invest 50 bucks for a reasonable microphone…
I had a 260z 2+2(with the back seat). I love the car but there were a lot of mechanical issues to the point there I couldn’t put anymore money in it I had to get rid of it and it never ran well
The Datsun Fairlady is a cool car.
So cool to see you detailing a bunch of cars from my era. Some I’ve even owned. Thanks 😊
That car seems like a GREAT find to me. Love the blue, but wonder if it's a re-spray, from the weird way it's peeling in places. That engine bay is SCHA-WEET.
IT LOOK LIKE IT READY TO CRANK. FIRE IT UP.
The 260Z was never sold in Japan..its not "JDM" ( japanese domestic market) . It was only sold here.
Did you guys close the choke on the inside of the vehicle. I know 240Z's had them but I'm not sure if the 260Z's had them .
Back in the day all the coke heads and pervs drove those cars. For real!
I like that car now but it hit a few bad memories for me.
How UK ones are better your bumpers are crap I do love your videos keep going thanks. Jeff in UK
