What actually would be stunning is if there were a way to fuel it after you buy it😂
I like that we're moving tech forward in multiple directions to solve the pollution issues that plague us. I don't like the e.v approach as much as the hydrogen though as I have seen lithium mining with my own two eyes and there's nothing green about it. Destroys environments beyond repair.
Bro the guy they killed back in the day must be rolling in his grave
Way to go!!
NO the whole project is doomed to failure. Cities are not going to allow hydrogen filling stations and if they do, after the first one explodes, that will be the end. Just remember the Von Hindenburg!
Japan Toyota soon left behind obsolete by China soaring EV long Range Cheaper quality export to Europe ang other parts of the world
Well, it failed to deliver on what attracts me to EV's: silence, immediate acceleration, and one-pedal drive.
This won't happen.
Not practical.
The biggest problem is in the title, Hydrogen, it's not cheap, nor is the maintenance cost of a Hydrogen powered engine. Then there is the cost of producing Hydrogen, especially Green Hydrogen which uses huge amounts of electricity to manufacture, let alone the losses involved in storing the smallest atom on the periodic table. It's a pipe dream, when anyone can produce their own electricity and it's available everywhere, unlike Hydrogen.
Hydrogen has been the future for the last 100 years, for anything smaller than a Semi is pointless as it is very bulky and limits the room inside a car, plus I dont fancy sitting on a tank pressurised to 10,000 psi tank of high explosives, but I'm sure it will catch on with some lemmings.
Running engines on hydrogen is not a big problem where the hydrogen comes from and how to store it is.
The future is electric and electric motors. There is no thermodynamic cycle that can compete with an electric motor’s performance. If we had today’s battery tech 130 years ago, nobody would have even considered gasoline (or any combustion engine).
First of all you are assuming CO2 to be a problem, tell that to a tree.
ok, all nice the enviromental intentions , but the eye wants something too.. I think their car exterior designs are nowhere near like those of Audi or any german car design. Simply because they are too round. The guy at the drawing board would do good to look at futuristic designs. And such a design has sharper lines. I assosiate round with female.
I can definitely see a future for large transport vehicles using Hydrogen, but it doesn't make sense for your standard family/ work vehicle.
Longer ranges and faster charging times will make BEV's the logical choice IMO.
EVs are so much simpler with far fewer moving parts. Toyota got caught with the Betamax and is still trying to swim against the tide.
How much carbon will be created when producing the hydrogen?
OK LET BREAK IT DOWN A BIT THESE BATTARY THESE PEOPLE HAVE MADE ARE A POLUTANT WE HAVE RECYLCLE ON THEM NOR DO WE HAVE THE INFERSTRUTURE EITHER . THIS SEEMS A BETER ALTURNITIVE THAN BATTARY TO ME THE RANGE AND BATTARY RECHARGE TIME ARE ALL SERIOUS DRAW BACKS THIS DAS SOME OF THE SAME BUT MORE PROMISING IN RANGE AND FUEL TIME ALONE AND FARE LESS POLUTION PERIOD
If electrics go away because they were the wrong g choice, how typical that would be for us? To waste all the effort on the wrong technology because hydrogen was deemed too expensive at the beginning.
i say let the free market decide (not joe biden) ele/gas/huyhrogen/or some new source
They already know how to create clean hydrogen for fuel and can have service stations everywhere. Hydrogen is easy to create but people of certain government agencies want it to appear that it's more dangerous and hard to make…….WRONG!!! Hydrogen power cars can work along with EV cars but certain agencies only promote one thing like the narrow minded people they are and only promote EV, crazy times we're living in that something as amazing as hydrogen power is being shunned by the mainstream. Don't believe the propaganda of government, hydrogen cars are the future too!!!
Its is all about how you make the hydrogen. As to whether the technology is green or not.
All CNG fuel cell tech is a possible.
Full electric powered cars are bad for the environment because of the batteries are extremely toxic to process. Plus, after a few years you have to replace those toxic batteries with a new toxic battery, thus repeating the cycle. A hydrogen car is less toxic to create and better for the environment because of less toxic and harmful conditions it creates over it's service life.
Also about green washing toys for the rich, the poor can walk and use public transport . You dont need 450 horse power for a car. 50 hp is more than adequate for normal driving.
Exceptional staff in a Martian world, but mere mortals need first to find a refueling station, and pay 4 to 5 times more than a comparable electric charge. While Toyota is dreaming , Tesla are building the safest, fastest, most efficient, and least costly to maintain EV in the world.
HYDROGEN IS the FUTURE FUEL
Do NOT buy Electric Vehicles
"Hydrogen fuel" is not an energy source, it's an energy vector.
Tech manufactures observation. Car batteries do not recharge up to 12volts if there is water in the holes. If there's no water in the holes there is a voltage drop. It keeps the battery at 12volts. There are batteries that don't have hole caps. Negative and positive if you touch the positive with a metal object it will spark a voltage drop. If you connect the positive to a separate ground at the output it doesn't short. Another example if you connect a capacitor to a 9 volt battery device the battery stays at 9volts. What's the difference 9 or 12 volts. And why would it cost more? That's my comment question for the company executive office. What is your money for if you don't have it? $250 or 5 dollars? How much is that for? I would not give it to you. If you can find a 25 cent. Capacitor at the store.
The industry is not "stunned." No one is stunned. We've no about this for ages. And refueling networks don't exist.
Along with JCB Toyota is another company that's at least trying not to put all its eggs into one very overcrowded basket. The industry really does need to realise that we are all different and what's good for one isn't necessarily good for everyone. The more choices available the better and the more variety of solutions to a problem the quicker the problem will be overcome.
That Yamaha hydrogen V8 engine 455 hp would be perfect in our camping-car which is a 1984 Ford Transit based 2.5 D developing 70 hp. Keep it going Toyota this is for our futures.
They might be far better than electric but there isn't established fueling up stations ,like electric limits travelling outside heavily populated areas.
Stunned at the stupiodity of that idea. H2 is 5 times more expensive than gasoline and depending on location between 10 to 22 more expensive than old electricity. Lies following lies.
A last, a manufacturer who sees that the whole EV thing is a nonstarter.
Consumer made their desision a long time ago. BEV (modern) were released in 2008, H2 car released in 2013. Last year 10 million ev were sold vs a total of 56,000 from 2013 to 2022
3:53 Fuel cells do not work via electrolysis, that is the name of the reverse reaction (i.e. turning water into hydrogen and oxygen using electricity). The more correct term would probably be either combust or just simply react.
It is possible to store hydrogen as a chemical hydride in liquid form, which would mean better fuel densities than gas storage and no need for specialised distribution infrastructure. It may also be possible to simply convert existing fuel pumps for it instead, and it has the additional safety benefit of not needing high pressure storage inside the vehicle.
Would ñót touch one with a barge pole. You are sitting on a bomb!!! ,
A 5Litre hydrogen converted petrol engine? Toyota have completely lost it.
Hydrogen : The most abundant element in the world. Lithium : made from rare earth minerals. Toyota is not smart…Toyota is logical looking at the obvious solution
The biggest game changer will be nuclear fusion. Nuclear fusion will make the production of hydrogen and electricity close to 0% emissions.
Bad news Toyota, hydrogen is not the way forward.
Goodbye OPEC & the country who always lead in cutting oil production. Monopolizing & pretending to be holy…

🚙EV with engine👍
Except the tanks required to store gaseous hydrogen are five times the size of a standard ice vehicle. Meaning if you converted a car over to the hydrogen V-8 most cars would only have a 50 mile range using the current fuel tank space.
Toyota will find the way to generate h2 as attachment of engine vehicle ❤
