PLEASE DO LUCID AIR, ITS AN ANTIDOTE TO TESLA’S POOR BUILT QUALITY AND HAS BETTER TECH.
In other words.. Elon is from another planet 😊
LONGEST HELLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EVER 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
lol….
sound like you are about to be out of a jobs…. in 30 year. lol
I am so lost but hook to watch your whole vedio… lol
Nothing for a machine like you to fix…… LOL
The car care nut love horses….. and nothing wrong with loving Horse and wagon the pull. lol Then He woke up and by a Rivian electric and not a any Tesla.
I'm beginning to understand why maintenance on these things is so expensive. I realize the batteries are insanely costly but there rest of this is new to me.
"Horendous", "I don't get it", "The rest of the world", This is the crux of what is so wrong with this review.
I dunno, but the more I look and read – the Bolt just seems a little better car….
They're going to be making these in Mexico soon so enjoy a drop in quality. Also the batteries themselves are dropping in quality. No thanks.
Have fun charging your dumb EVs and replacing a $10,000 battery down the line. I'll happily be driving down the road and gassing up in 5 minutes, and not worrying about range. Not everybody just drives to and from the grocery store in an urban environment. If that's all you're doing, an overpriced EV is for you.
" Octovalve is a proprietary valve system developed by Tesla for use in their electric vehicles (EVs). It is an advanced thermal management system that regulates the flow of coolant through the battery pack and the power electronics of the EV.
The Octovalve is designed to be more efficient and compact than traditional thermal management systems used in EVs. It combines several functions into one unit, including heating and cooling of the battery pack, heating of the passenger cabin, and cooling of the power electronics.
The Octovalve uses a series of valves and pumps to control the flow of coolant through the system. It is able to direct coolant to specific areas of the vehicle as needed, which helps to improve overall efficiency and reduce energy consumption. The system also uses a heat pump to capture waste heat from the battery pack and use it to heat the passenger cabin.
Overall, the Octovalve is a key component of Tesla's advanced thermal management system, which helps to improve the performance and efficiency of their electric vehicles."
Good review !
Can we compare it to how the FIRST Model T came off the production line !
I presume that it too had some Brilliant innovation, however, you could get it in any colour, so long as it was Black, because it dried fastest !
It didn't have a self starter, it had a handle, outside.
It didn't have windscreen wipers, you wiped it by hand, with whatever you had available.
It didn't have a heater, the engine got hot, and heat came in through the wooden floorboards/dashboard.
But it was MOBILITY for the masses.
I wonder how the fit and finish was, on it.
The first of ANYTHING is a testing ground !
Would you buy a Model T now ? ?
No, of course not, but it got people used to the IDEA of Mobility, and the people LIKED it !
More than 15,000,000 model T's were made from 1913 to 1927, when the NEW Model A was introduced.
The Model T came in various guises, sedan, open, etc., but basically the same car.
Tesla is following the lead set by Mr. Ford, hence why now the newer models, are a nod to Ford , in that they are known as the Highland models, after Ford's Highland Rd. Plant.
I think the Teslas, will get better and better, as the next 100 years roll by !
Thank you for your insightful review. I learnt lots from it. I own a Model Y and I agree that is some places the quality is not that good. I do not like for example, the cheap sound the doors make when closing them. Also the suspension is quite firm for bad city roads, like London. But to be honest, I love driving this car: Steering is sharp, gives you lots of feedback of what is doing, wet or dry the car feels planted, safe and never under-steers. I personally like the looks and its practicality. A ton of space everywhere, great as family car.
Very nice honest review. Coming from the comforts of Merc and BMW (I like both), I hated the look of this car very much. After just 3 weeks of driving in the traffic, it changed my thoughts I am so relaxed getting stuck in traffic, I actually like getting stuck in traffic – just like sitting in a park looking around and enjoying yourself. You say that this is a small percentage in the automotive market, you are definitely wrong. Tesla model 3 and Y sold more cars then BMW, more cars than Merc, Lexus put together. I am not talking about BMW / Merc EVs. I am talking about all of their cars in the segment put together. There is a huge profit margin in these cars, and of course, Tesla is going to come up with those computers to automate to make the slightest body adjustments that cannot be seen with your naked eye. And these cars have enough margins to make that happen, without increasing the price by a lot. Range, Motors, Technology, and Body perfection will all come in a few years, which Automotive Industry took hundred years to make. Just my 2 cents
I bought a Model 3 and it was delivered 3 weeks ago. I have not driven a tesla before. Tesla delivered to my drive way. No keys? a small pack and said the key was inside and need to put it near the cup holder for the car to start. The shifter is similar to my Merc. I saw some YouTube videos that said the shifter down twice for Auto pilot. No buttons very confusing and the breaking as soon I get off the accelerator was weird. Screen was overwhelming, what are those options? I press the right button and said "turn on the AC" wow. I realized I can just as for stuff. Now after 3 weeks l love this car it drives so well. no more road rage, know most of the screen items, I love the break regen, I use the breaks once in 3 days lol. and I was supposed to hate this car.
I've watched dozens of Tesla reviews, and this is the first review that touched on what's under the hood and the practicalities. Thank you, i'm a big fan especially on the Lexus and Toyota reviews.
Here's something to talk about.. Teslas recall because the STEERING WHEEL comes off in your Hands…Typical Tesla build quality..
Electric cars does one thing amazing well. Sucks any type of enjoyment out of driving. Until electric cars can fully charge in manner of minutes they would never be able to fully replace a normal combustion vehicle. While the range in many electric vehicles is improving there is still a lack of charging infrastructure & long charging times to deal with.
Awesome review, master mechanic. That’s why I stick to my naturally aspirated V8s. The 1UZ-FE (GS400) and the 2UZ-FE (Sequoia 05).
Tesla needs some car guys working for them, instead of just engineers and computer nerds.
Why didn't review underneath of car as your other reviews
As yet another Tesla owner (model 3 long range) I had no issues with panel gaps, rattles or squeaks so very happy with that. I'm also nordic so love the sleek interiors without that children's toy feel most cars have (I also hate gaming RGB keyboards etc but love gaming so guess that's the same subjective taste category). Seats are the most comfortable I've ever sat in and I've driven 50k km in this car over 1.5 years. Driving feel is vastly superior to my mom's BMW, but some Mercedes for example are very smooth. I prefer the playfulness and not having to worry about range, I easily drive 3-4 hours between stops on Autobahn in Germany at speeds around 180km/h with no issues.
All that said, I agree the exterior is not that great. Model S looks better but like you hinted at, for me it's just not as big of a factor even though I do love design. It's simply good enough in that regard while the rest is perfect (for me).
The review elephant in the room:
Like virtually everyone else, complaints about panel gaps, materials, etc., and nada on the subject of just how green these muscle car fast BEV cars are. Are they green?
To date, not Tesla, not the federales, and nobody I've discussed the matter with seem to be able to reference a single technical write-up that indicates that these large battery BEV's are actually green.
My understanding, mostly based on a 2017 meta-study by the Swedish enviromental group IVL, is that large battery BEV's start life with an ecological debt from the manufacture of the battery, a debt which takes most or all of the life of the car to climb out of.
My S model even 9 years old still with the factory brake pads 😂😂😂. No issue at all I did the upgrade MCU2 computer just because I want have him with new software “”””. Few tire set regular no RFT hate those is better regular any way “””is working perfectly
Best service ever I’m still driving bmw new one but my Tesla will be with me until he said no more lol😅
Tesla body is suck. Build quality is suck. Ride quality is suck. Tesla only have good auto-pilot, super charger network. Tesla has an ugly, dumn service centers. That is why Musk got rich fast.
Yes, very ROUGH, HASH ride.
30:15 "So you're going to be constantly charging it. Why? I don't get it."
Literally the same thing can be said about ICE cars about driving it hard and fast and thus consuming more gas. I'm not sure why that was so hard to figure out.
Tesla in colaboration with DACIA made possible "on a cheap" in their ev lineup.,..dear god !
What year is this Model Y?
You talk about the competition catching up but this is with a greatly incorrect assumption that Tesla will just be sitting around giving the competition a chance to catchup. You have to realize that by the time the competition "catches up" Tesla is already onto the next thing! Tesla will always be 10 steps ahead in tech and they are continuously improving their manufacturing quality drastically. It's called iterative Agile manufacturing. Ask any Tesla owner who bought a car in 2023 vs 2020 or prior.
One thing you missed on heating and cooling, when stationary they can stall the motors so they produce heat for heating the battery etc. Where was your Y made? Mine was made in China and has Zero and I mean Zero issues with fit and finish, no rattles after 12 months of use, no panel gaps no misaligned anything and I love the no button interior, who needs buttons?? Sorry but the rest of the car industry are going the way of the Dodo, Tesla did try to supply the rest of the car industry, remember the original Electric Toyota Rav 4? Toyota invested in Tesla but sold their stock years ago, bad idea!
Inside of a Tesla is made by Ikea
As long as the mechanicals are great, I’m not sure the test matters. So what if other cars are built better… the tech is ollstem and unteliable.
Well said brother and I think what you said will come and bite Tesla in the behind in the not too distant future! I got me a Mini Cooper electric as my first EV because I didn’t care for the issues you laid out about the Tesla.
I live in So Cal. I don’t usually need my 285 range so. I like my Y😂.
This car incorporates a principle ( to put it simply) of a multi zone water source heat pump. Except its all shrunk down and ran through one valve. In the hvac world on buildings this would be done with a water source heat pump with VAV/ blower boxes with dampers to control primary airflow for the other zones. Again this is a simple explanation for a intricate system.
Agree that body, fitment, and materials quality of these cars is crap which is why I refuse to buy one.
I just prefer the physical buttons and knobs.
I used to work in the factory that make the pleather, it’s nothing special it’s the same fake leather stuff supplied to most manufacturers and fake leather bags.
Hats off for a very honest and frank review straight from your heart. I really liked how you started with a simple Thermo dynamics concept and explained the whole system. Only someone with a good grasp of concepts and deep practical knowledge can explain it in a simple manner.
I suggest that all EV converts, or anybody considering and EV, should Google "the truth about ev’s", or similar, for some very interesting YouTube information.
Happy hunting.
That headline made me laugh I havnt found a mechanic who can reliably repair any vehicle let alone an ev .
I've rented to Tesla models lately. My conclusion is they are great for staying around the city and metro area. But the charging station hassles that you get into for driving them long distance. Well that, is beyond my patience. Sitting in strange places in your car for an average of 20 minutes, is fine in the day time. But 2am in the morning on a long distance drive, in some small town where everything is closed (Metter, GA) around you, and the only comfortable traffic is another Tesla owner popping in? No!
