Hi, what are reliable Toyota Corolla
I've almost given up on the local shops around here, they can't even get the oil level right… even the dealers.
Looks like the dealership and that family trusted mechanic might be crack heads. 😂
Dealerships are such a scam. I’ve had nothing but bad experiences and money drained from my wallet by servicing my vehicles there.
Great video and knowledge. Be safe and healthy.
Thnx for your time & expertise advice thnx bro
We need more techs like you.
Hello Ahmed, I hope this your Christian name and you don’t mind me calling you by your name. Another fantastic video where you have exposed dishonesty of many mechanics be it dealerships or other. I took my wife’s Honda to a Honda dealer for a automatic transmission flush including the torque converter. After the work was completed I got an advice for other repairs required urgently on the Honda. I did not mention that I was a mechanic retired, so when I got home I lifted the 🚘 car and DID NOT find any spot where the oil was leaking. The extra work to be done was just under $500. It was a Honda dealership in Australia that was trying to take my wife for a ride. I must say that I do a lot of maintenance work myself on my cars and of my neighbours who trust me. For one I wonder how many mechanics pre-fill the new oil filter before mounting them. I do, so the oil pressure can build up quickly. Once agai thank you Ahmed for the great video. 👍👍👍👍👍👍, love ❤️❤️❤️ your show.
That’s why I tip my mechanic! He said nobody tips but me! He is also extremely reputable!
Went to 1 dealership for rear differential and transfer case oil change car passed everything after inspection, went to other dealership for transmission fluid change they give me about 6000$ dollars of problems they listed after inspection, 2 Toyota dealership in the same city in under 24 hours wow, so I get under the car every thing looks new car feels and runs great including the front control arm after doing much research of what to look out for of course, thank you really appreciate everything.
stealership nightmares
its just getting run through the express lube bays
why are body plugs not installed?
this is why the automotive industry got a black eyes because of these shady mechanics or simply they are undertrained and shouldn't call themselves mechanics. our society need more people like you brother honest and educated
The best instructual video I've ever seen
Thank you Sr., Really
This is an example of, people not following the first step of diagnostic procedures. Before EVEN TOUCHING the car. Look at technical service bulletins and see if they symptoms the car is experiencing matches what the TSB’s are saying. And from there you start diagnostic for verifying the TSB is correct and begin diagnosing system issue
Great advice.
What we don’t know about this situation is what the customer responsibly. Are they being told about these repairs and declined and finding the cheapest place to get repairs done. Having a back yard mechanic work on it. Those Avalon’s with piss poor maintenance can last 300k miles. Most people theses days only do the bare minimum and have the audacity to blame the mechanic.
Sad and disgusting. Stay the course sir. I salute you 😊
Stealership is the new name
This is reminding me of the horrible service I got from several Nissan dealerships in Southern California for a Nissan Maxima I used to own.
Those clowns literally couldn’t do anything right. Not even simple things like changing the oil properly or putting on windshield wiper blades the right way. Made me never buy another Nissan.
These Avalons are great cars. I have one with 300,000 miles. Very comfortable. Tons of rear legroom. Gets great highway gas mileage too (30 mpg on the highway consistently, and I’ve occasionally gotten 35 mpg if I drive like an old lady). Pretty strong engine, that 3.5 liter V6.
Toyota’s version of a classic Buick sedan. Toyota basically took the Camry V6 XLE and stretched it to give it more rear legroom and added some sound insulation for a quieter ride. It’s the basis for the Lexus ES 350, just without the Lexus badge.
They’re usually kept pretty well because their owners are usually middle aged folks who take care of them and don’t beat them up.
We had a guy hammer in some pads before…..smh
Hello, I'm. New to your channel and I'm looking for some advise, had purchased a 2011 rav4 v6 156500 miles and when accelerate I hear a whining noise from the engine, check the carfax of vehicle and the transmission fluid was serviced whe she was 32000 miles, transfer case serviced last month. Please give me your advise and keep it up the good content 👌
Car's are very expensive in Thailand That goes for S/H cars as well But wages are very cheap I found an excellent mechanic He only changes £20 a day labour But I always give him more Most people here drive pickups And a Toyotas he recommended me to buy a Toyota which I did And very happy with it
Youre a great mechanic i watch you videos because i see the truth in you as i incorporate your advise on my audi a8 3.0 1st owner 8 years now.
Bet youre in Californis?
Dealerships need to make money from the lack of sales during the pandemic and with the current shortage we are in now. These days every time I call in my local Toyota dealer to get parts they constantly try to get me to bring my car in for service when all I wanted was the parts. I was even told that it would be cheaper for me to bring it in for an oil change vs. doing it myself, I asked the parts guy how much it costs and he couldn't even tell me since he didn't even know in the first place. Before the pandemic I called in for part availability, got a quick response and came in to buy with no hassle.
I had BMW dealer tell me I needed a new transmission and transfer case when I only came in for an oil change. They claimed my mismatched tires had ruined my transmission and transfer case and that it would be well over $10,000 to replace both. Well, that’s odd because the car is relatively new, with new tires, and I don’t even have AWD, my car is RWD. I took my keys and have been driving with my broken transmission and non existent transfer case for the last seven years.
How can you ever trust a mechanic?
Hi ! My name is Daniel. I watched you video about the 2008 toyota Avalon engine codes crank shaft correlation . I have the same issue in mine . Where are of Illinois are you ? And if. Is possible to make an appointment with you to check my vehicle
Who is going to pay diagnostic charges for the first opinion?????
I love ur work. I'll confront the owner of shop like I did the first time. My is my investment and how it supposed to drive I drive all time and pay attention to vehicle. I check everything before I go
Great Video & Job!
One time i took my Honda Accord to Honda World for a recall. They did the recall service and inspection. They told me i needed front brakes. My brakes were worn out bad. I looked at the service guy and told him I just changed my brakes yesterday. I changed the rotor and pads myself. Bunch of liars they are.
The dealership/mechanics who tried convincing your customer to total a perfectly good Avalon absolutely 100% deserve to be flagged/shamed.
So unfortunate but true on every level. Impossible in my area to find a good mechanic. And the dealers are the worst. I used to depend on them now I do everything myself if possible.
Follow up on brake issues?
You are a good man
If they have the Noble Prize 🏆 for Honesty, I’ll definitely give it to you. Thank you for your integrity/honesty/and work ethic.
Mad respect.
The Indy car repair guys in Southern Calif worry about their rating on YELP. An internet channel with customer One star to five star ratings, dates, names and comments. The shop can make a rebuttal or say nothing. .
Recently my dealership I've been servicing for oil changes and inspections told me the reason my car didn't start was due to remote key. I got one from a locksmith and 2 days layer still didn't start. A few years ago I had an alternator and fuel pump pit in so I knew it wasn't that. So I got tired and watched these videos and used a hammer to start my car and it worked. I took to independent mechanic who only uses oem parts and got a new starter and didnt have issues after that starting my car. I lost trust in them. I always used my dealership to tell me the health of my car and after that wrong diagnosis and pointless 300 on a key I don't anymore.
Can’t believe people still take their cars to the dealership for repairs.
This customer was fortunate she was within range and could bring the car to you. I'm not even in the US, but all the things you talk about are the same here in New Zealand. I had an uncle who was a mechanic and even back in the 1960s, he used to tell us about the dishonesty in the repair industry. That's why I've bought good quality tools and shop manuals, and for 56 years have done as much as I can myself on all the family's cars. I must have saved enough to buy myself a Rolls Royce by now. Much as I might like one, I still drive a 4GR 2.5 litre Toyota, a lovely car imported from Japan still with only 60,000 miles.
Have a Tacoma with 352,XXX miles on it, would never go to a dealer but got a 1600 dollar estimate at a reputable car repair shop replacing 3 different parts on an egr code check engine light so I could smog my truck, got a SECOND OPINION and the mechanic didn't replace anything and fixed the problem for $225 just for a diagnostic and by clearing out the egr clog.
I love this video, it was talored for people like me that own the Avalon, I have an 06 touring with 290k I love my Avalon I do the oil change ever 3-4K and tranny oil every 60-75k
Hope you fixed the brakes!
I hope you call the dealership and local mechanic that condemned the engine of that beautiful Toyota.
I'd do a 3 way call and talk with the owner or manager.
Have the customer ask for documents from those businesses on the recent repairs and prognosis.
They can provide the manager or owner with it and tell them how horribly miscared for and diagnosed it was at those locations.
This has the potential to get things to change or get a better employee on other people's cars.
I have had so many bad experiences at dealerships and local mechanics. This is why i became a DIY mechanic. The sad part is many believe the dealership is the best care for your vehicles.
