Agree with all you say, but lauding Kia while ignoring its disastrous and record-setting class-action lawsuits is questionable journalistic ethics. The problem engines have been small displacement, turbocharged fours, similar to the one in every Sportage. If this one is not prone to spontaneous combustion, tell us why.

All the other reviews were so brutally and unfairly critical of the Sportage in favor of the CRV or a random Mazda that didn’t even belong. I bought a Sportage so I know what it’s about. Just surprised at the complete 180.
And the gas model is not bad as it being made out to be in these reviews. It has power to easily pass cars on the highway. But I guess that would be too much of a backtrack for Edmunds.
We'll be getting our Sportage Hybrid here in the next few months. Pretty excited!

Was interested in one but they are unavailable and don't know when they will get them and everything on Kias lot was marked at least 4 grand over MSRP. Bought a new Crv and love it.
All three models are my favorite one time or the other. Sportage is my favorite among all 3 because it is family friendly so yes I agree with your pick.
I owned the kia sportage hybrid SX trim and I can tell you it rides smooth and quiet plus I get close to 450 on a full tank, just waiting for how long reliability kick in compare to Toyota and Honda.

THE TELLURIDE US A GASOLINE HOG.
The Volvo XC60 SUV hybrid is an amazing luxury car. I would rather have it than any of the Kia or anything mentioned in this article. FAR more luxury than Kia and more space and more power. The rear seats are way better as well. We added the amazing Wilkins entertainment center at 3200 dollars added and the larger tires. The VOLVO XC60 is very safe and not a light car. Drives in Florida oily rain on the roads perfectly. The VOLVO Ultimate is amazing and is the best car with these added features beating any KIA or Hyundai. Great MPG and 38 miles on the charge in the AM so trips less than 38 miles use NO GAS!

I just bought a sportage hybrid sx prestige great vehicle but I've been getting about 33 mpg hopefully it will go up.
