Had an accident like this occur near where I live. Busy out of school hours on a very busy and commonly used road— a semi was stopped at a light and driver in some big pickup was supposedly hitting 70 in a 30????? Didn’t stop— crashed head on into the empty semi— the entire top half was basically sandwhiches and torn off the bottom (tires/base of seats) driver died on impact and allegedly still holding on to their cell phone…

I live in that area. Drivers are horrible. Always on their phones, traveling way too fast, and cutting people off. That highway has so many accidents.

Please, people, when you have to stop behind someone, make sure you can clearly see their rear wheels touch the ground. Probably wouldn't have helped much here, since the person was going full speed, but it may lessen the intensity of the impact you make on the car Infront of you should you get rear ended. I'd rather just have rear end damage than be the meat in a car crunch sandwich.

This exact same thing happened to me not on the freeway but on the street , literally only had my 10th anniversary gr86 for 1 month and someone rear ended me and dipped 🤦♂️
I would cry if my model 3 got totaled. Then I would beat the crap out of the guy who hit me.
I used to live along Hwy. 4 near there. The best part about being semi-retired is not having to drive every day. Now i collect a full pension and only have to drive 20 minutes to a part time job on a country road.
The other best part is playing a certain John Denver song on the way home. lol "Country road…take me home…"

What the car should have done was hit the brake check the mirror let go of the break if it was clear, move over into the next lane. But I know it’s hard to think in that situation.
