I don't think we'll see Teslas here in the US 'made in China' any time soon.
Pricing … Tesla will most certainly be lowering prices. You have bear in mind the goal of the company: transition the world to sustainable transport & energy.
Harder to do that if every vehicle is $60k. They increase their prices when either resource costs require it or when demand for the cars is so high they have to (or let wait times get truly out of control).
They've already indicated the prices are too high. Once production is able to properly keep pace with demand, they will lower the price. People like to freak out at any hint of them lowering prices, but it is simply part of their objective.
Tesla is toast.
I will not buy any Tesla made in China. Sorry Elon.
Lol iif you can, afford a tesla why are you even concerned about gas prices in the first place.
If they do start importing, that will simply mean I never ever buy a Tesla. I'll stick to Toyota, thanks.
I wouldn't pay for something shipped over salt water
I tried listening but the background music was too distracting
It's a personal choice if people opt to buy them if the prices are dropped or not. I don't think the EV market should be primarily comprised of just Tesla when other manufacturers such as Toyota and Honda have a much longer tract record in terms of production and quality.
The bottom line is which company can produce enough cars for the market they are aiming for. You might want car A but it simply isn't available then you will buy car B. China's domestic market is buying a lot of what BYD produces so the question is can they produce much more to satisfy the US market ?
Apple has finally wised up and is moving operations out of China. Apparently Tesla has figured things out yet.
If these cars are made as castings in a Giga press, what sort of body work is possible following an accident, does it mean that there will be lot of write offs, does it mean that Insurance may/will? have to be through Tesla's own Insurance company? Or, in other words, how long are you going to be off the road???
No would not buy a Tesla made in China or USA.
Wow so much incorrect information 😂
They already started temporarily cutting price on Tesla 3 and Y to my stupid luck since Dec 1st… and now they offer 10k miles free supercharge. why I said to my stupid luck? Because i got delivered mine last week of Nov. And I didn't qualify for that juicy $3500 discount 😡😡😡
The vehicles made in China are consistently pieces of junk. Why would we believe the Teslas made there are any better when the government regulations are so lax when compared to here? Many vehicles made in other countries don’t require safety glass, collision resistance nor basic safety measures for fuel (battery) safety.
In Australia we have the Chinese Tesla's and the panels gaps are perfect.
All electric cars have 10 to 15 years to correct their cars to look like a tesla. They are just producing a normal car but running on battery. Give me any electric car for free, I will not take except is a tesla because it is the only mature electric car in the world at this time. They single handedly changed the plannet.
No… to expensive to get it serviced should it need to be fixed parts do wear as well as brakes and tires and eventually batteries and iits already expensive to pay for electricity how much is it to charge that car to keep it running?
Sure I would consider acquiring a Tesla if prices drop AND manufactured from China – since build quality of Tesla's are surprisingly better from China than that of the U.S.A.
The Model Y starts at around $40K in China and the Model 3 starts just below $37K that doesn't include any of the December incentives. Tesla has also implemented discounts in the US of $7500 plus 10K in free charging this month. Supporters say it's because of people cancelling orders due to the tax credit, while there's some truth to that, I think it's also about softness in demand and trying to eliminate inventory that won't qualify for the tax credit.
When the price comes down YES
Tesla Shanghai will serve China and markets outside US and Europe.
Tesla's charging infrastructure is 2nd to none. I often drive 300 + miles (500km) per day around Ontario, Canada for work. With colder climate being a factor it still doesn't make sense for me to own an ev of any kind, until range can be doubled.
I'm Still waiting on delivery of my Rav4 hybrid for now.
Watching other YouTube channels where non Tesla's are driven similar distances, range anxiety remains a real thing even in many parts of the US. Canada has way less and much more expensive charging stations than the US.
Although governments are mandating a migration to EVs, we are clearly not ready to handle them for driving distances on a daily basis. Furthermore, road taxes will eventually need to be added to the cost of driving an EV. No EV driver is currently paying for the cost of infrastructure. These costs are being borne solely by ICE drivers presently. Somehow these fees will need to be collected from EV owners sooner or later. At that point it may be more expensive to drive an EV than an ICE vehicle.
The thumbnail car is BYD seal, BYD's first upper tier car.
I love my Black 2011 Toyota 4Runner, which I bought new almost 12 years ago. Nothing goes wrong-have replaced tires and completed basic maintenance, including brakes. It's still gorgeous. "'til death do we part!"
Lol…..
Thank you Scotty, your videos are a work of art.
This is so interesting!
I'd but an EV.. when hell freezes over. Naturally aspirated 4,6,8 cylinder engine mated to a simple 6 speed automatic or standard shift. Japanese or American engine and build will still be going strong at 250,000 miles.
It's amazing that a car with 22 moving parts can cost so much. What's going to kill All EV is the proprietary hardware, software and service. Good luck for low income families paying a Stealership $175/hr to service and troubleshoot these cars…
Thanks Scotty 👍 you are the best mechanic 🙌
I think Tesla wants to stay American made in America
