This is a wonderful video! I agree with most of your choices completely, including some of the more controversial ones. I've always preferred the '58 Impala to earlier Tri 5 Chevvies and you nailed it by including the Skylark, Edsel, and Kaiser Manhattan/Dragon. The Turnpike Cruiser is the only that I find downright ugly and disproportionate. I love the Forward Look MoPars, but '56 was the high point in my opinion, before things got really out of hand. Andy
The '56-58 Cadillac Eldorados were the best styled of all especially if they came with gold Sabre wheels
I was a little surprised not to see the 59 Buick Electra 225 4 door flat top included. Along with the 59 Cadillac, it was all about over the top styling. It was also powered by the iconic 401 nail head engine. I’ll take mine in black with a gray interior. Looks like a rolling tuxedo to me.
I had a 55 black and white Ford Crown Victoria. Also had 2 57 Chevies and a 59 Chevy convertible. And last but not least, a 59 T Bird. Yeah! the fifties cars has a style and grace that nothing before or after can compare. They were works of art and loads of fun to drive. I am 83 years old. My first Harley was a 1942 Flat Head 45. Been a motor head all my life.
Today cars and trucks don't talk. They are the stepford vehicles. All computerized😢
And they were very colorful inside and out. Unlike today’s fugly drab and dark cars. What is with gray exteriors and dark interiors??
When you talk about how how much you like the 56 Chevy wagon your actually showing a black 57 Chevy wagon……….
I owned a 1949 Kaiser four door with continental 6 cyl. Always thought that the interior design was really ahead of it's time. Instead of rotating handles for opening the door it had push buttons. Also the traditional "hump" on back seat floor that allowed clearance for the driveshaft was almost completely absent. the entire floor was completely flat except for a very slight ripple in the middle.
I was just the right age to see all these classic cars when they first appeared on showroom floors. Always looked forward to running around to all the dealerships and salivating over all the new designs that I dreamed I would own one day.
Loved your choices and was most surprised by your Edsel and turnpike choices but wouldn’t debate it with you. Totally enjoyed it
Sincerely,
Bob Norman
Love my 57 chevy!!
My father was a Ford dealer. I always looked forward to the new models coming out in the Fall. The most memorable was my mother's demonstrator; a 1964 Galaxie 500 XL with bucket seats and floor shifter, turquoise blue with white vinyl top and interior.
i have the "bat-rod", is a 1956 lincoln priemer 2 door hardtop, the headlight bezel looks like the batmobile from t.v. my frame and floor is from a 1969 t-bird and with the 429 cobra jet engine and c-6 auto and power front disc brakes. the lincoln body was cut and shortened 20" in the rear fins and trunk lid and rear wheel openings moved forward 4".
You did Grate the 58 ponpaic had most Crome of all cars
Thanks for the ride, but disappointed not to find the gorgeous 1956 Lincoln Premier in your tally.
That is the hardest question ive ever come across. I definitely lean towards 1959 GM products. That year has the more modern low and sleek design but also has such sculpted land rocket features. I do prefer two doors though. 4drs. are just too impractical except for touring as a road car.
My favorite was the 1956 Chrysler Imperial. What beauty and style! Had to be one of the heaviest cars ever made too. Bumpers took two people to handle them. Solid steel car!!!
1956 Ford Crown Victoria with continental kit in turquois / ivory—my all time favorite!!! I lived in that era and actually had a '57 Chev Bel Aire 2dr hardtop with a 283ci / 4 barrel and a turboglide automatic transmission—those were the days–The best times!!!!
1958 Chevy my favorite.
I've subscibed—looking forward to more videos!!!!!!!!
You dud a great job. I think you and I have the same taste un cars. 58 corvette, I had a 59 fully loaded Skyliner tehision Brown and Fawn tan with A/C. Excellent video. Many thanks! I Enjoyed it!
1956 crown Victoria my first car
I was 19 in 1956 n bout. My brand new 1956 Pontiac 4. Door. Hard top
I Am 87 now
There was a huge selection of colors inside and out. Some dealers would install a wide assortment of options including speed parts. All these cars are beautiful, today's style is rather garish IMO.
You have good taste for styling.
Packard Caribbean
'59 Cadillac El Dorado. My favorite.
Thank you!!
Made me smile
My '56 tbird like American graffiti draws looks everywhere I drive it
Women love that car!!
It pisses my wife off to no end!! But she likes it too
I love it 😂!!
I’ll take a ‘55|56 Chevy sedan delivery or Pontiac sedan delivery or Safari 2 door wagon.
My two favorites arethe 1958 Ford Ranchero and the 1956 ford convertible.
