Just curious, you mentioned Ford F150 eco boost four wheel drive in your check valve comments. I put mine in four wheel high one time and the check four wheel drive light came on. Ford rebuilt the whole front end of the truck under warranty. I hardly use 4wd and the truck is never driven hard. I wonder what may have happened?
SuperLube is not a sponsor either, but you're sure giving them plenty of free advertising. . . .
Almost everything I've broken while working on a car so far has been on a modern Ford. Especially the crappy tab at the back of an Escape's fuse box. Those things are not made to be used at all.
I could never own that car, I get angry just watching someone else work on it. If it were me it would be F-bombs galore and broken plastic.
I wounder if that could be what making my wife's ford fusion r us good then runs like crap for a few then back to running good again and always smell gas but no leaks to be found
I WOULD NOT CALL ONE PART unloading the parts cannon!
You baffle me with your humor on the little noises and sayings under your breath Mr O. You're a great mechanic too! I'm slapping my knee laughing at your remarks my friend! I also feel like I'm right at the shop watching you
These purge systems remind me of the complicated air pump systems the manufacturers were forced to put on cars in the 70s. Band-aids for trying to meet emission standards back then. PIA at best, poor drivability at worse. Great video Dr. O.
Ford loves 7 mm and 5.5 mm, found it out after 5 years at the local dealer. And most of the air boxes strip out
When work with any the rule is don’t put everything higher than you want it to fall if you have too
Big fan driving on 1-86E on vacation, stopping by your shop to take a pic!
Guess we been lucky on my mom's 2015 Ford Escape bought new in 2016 and has around 80k miles. She uses premium gas in it only and maybe why she haven't had this problem.
When pulling connectors, sometimes you have to think outside the box. I had a fuel injection line that had to come off. The deal was it needed a special tool which I did not have. No tool was needed to connect back up. Connector was about 2 dollars ( from the dealer, wow ). Snip Snip, Click click.
You ROCK!!
Fords don't have gas caps. At least not after 2013 AFAIK
No horsing around, no mention on giraffing around. The lovely purge valve
The classic reach under,😂
This is an example of put engine together and then drop car on top of it so you can't reach anything. Nice job on that car.
Eric O. It is amazing how many plastic 2-liter soda bottles and aluminum beer cans go it to making cars nowadays. lol Good job Brother.
two out of three aint bad, dont let your Meatloaf lol
These new fords actually have worse plastic than Nissan and that’s saying something
Hello
From here it looks like that entire car is made of plastic…wow.
Normally it's a safe bet to stick with OEM, but when a part is on back order for months, it could be because they are selling like hot cakes (due to failures). So in that case why not try aftermarket? Maybe someone else made it better. And in the case of your NAPA part, it was at least "fabrique aux etats-unis."
I don’t think there is one part on this vehicle that was engineered for service after manufacture, had to put a trans in an awd one a while ago, how frustrating.
This 03' Taurus has been sitting for about 5 years, had to buy a battery, no start, checked the fuel module fuse-ok, put gas in-no start. Thinking it might be the fuel pump because of not being cranked up now & then, but after watching this video now I'm thinking it might be a bad purge valve. What causes a purge valve not to work? Thanks, Mr. O.
Evidently the Ford part isn't very good so mabe the Napa part will be better 😉
You can't even get an airbox out, you hack!
WHAT A JOB for a simple purge valve. Oh yes, See how ford has almost made a fully plastic car and they still have the gall to ask a fortune for all that cheap junk. FORD = found on road dead🤣😂?
17:11 i didnt hear that click 👀😂
Just love the channel Eric, but the greatest thing you are teaching me is PATIENCE. Really pays off for a mechanic.
Off topic, Do you have a video of your repair of a F150 XLT 4 door 4×4 with ABS and Brake light is on? My 2007 4.6L F150 XLT 4X4 just had this happened.
Can I hear that noise u made again said that to my mechanic didn't fall for it
Can be the fuel on a old car if you fill it up to much
Sounded like the connector from the purge valve assembly didn't click on the intake manifold. The only one that didn't click super loud.
Great !
I diaged a Honda that died every time you had a hard stop.
Then it would start right back up with a little long crank and be perfectly fine until the next hard stop.
No check engine lights.
After 2 days of driving, testing etc, I found about a half a quart of water in the fuel tank.
Every time you had a hard stop, the water would slosh up into the fuel pump and stall.
After looking for a source of the water I found small rust holes in the top side of the filler neck seen with a mirror.
Now seems obvious but I was pulling my hair out for a while…lol
With all those little giggly bits I bet you are a whiz at lagos
Diagnostician extraordinaire… Not in this car, just watching all your electronic diagnosis and signal tracingwkrk is mind numbing.
Step one, take a small engine, step two put it in an engine bay , step three cover it with wires, tubes and all sorts of crap and ram it in there …… Smooch it in if ya have to
For such a small engine it looks so shoe horned in the vehicle
Maze of plastic and trash I swear
I would have been cussing 🤬 at that thing like a sailor until it came out.
Something that might help, on some of those snorkel tube clamps you can take them off and turn them around and reconnect them to the tube, I’ve even swapped places with the clamps. Something’s to try next time you get a clamp in the wrong place.
I would’ve been cussing up a storm by now
👍🏻
My nephew had problems with filling up with gas and not starting, I told him purge valve, i put it on and have no problem
