VW is behaving as if they think we have time to move to EVs gradually; they are wrong. We are out of time, and out of GHG headroom – even for the manufacturing. Given the manufacturing is going to happen anyway, it should ALL be EV from now on.

You would have to assume that VW AG wanted to go all electric ⚡️, the Directors of the Board at VW are not all on board with that approach. The Porsche Group subsidiary is looking at synthetic petroleum fuel. So, most likely VW will go after that route if it is cheaper. STILL waiting on the ID.4, but I did get a notice that my shipping cost went up $100 and that the MSRP was going up 1%. Also, the VW Unions were ticked off about Diess was Signaling 30,000 union member job losses. So, as usual Unions are getting in the way of making a meaningful difference. Get Rid of Unions were they are NO LONGER RELEVANT.

My R1S delivery window is the end of this year. I'm thinking about a Rivian wall charger. However, my garage is a couple hundred feet from my condo and there is no WiFi at the garage.
1. Is there anyway I can get OTA updates for the charger?
2. Is the Rivian the best charger for the R1S?

In June 2022 BYD made 300,000 Electric Vehicles. This is 3.5 times the production of Tesla. BYD are now exporting EVs to US, Australia, and New Zealand. In Shanghai over 50% of cars sold are now electric cars. The average uptake of electric cars in China is 25%. The price of BYD Atto 3 in New Zealand is now about the same as a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. BYD will cause a massive disruption in the car market as prices of petrol were recently over $3 / Liter. The average savings wil be over $2000 yearly. This is a real game changer.
Where it makes sense.
Affordable? Gas.
Towing a distance? Diesel.
Around town and leisurely trips, where there are chargers, and can afford it? EV.
If there was a lot more range then that would change the picture some. And if there were affordable EVs that would change the picture some also. But if I was a young person living in an apartment, it would be a more reasonably priced gas car or truck. And towing something heavy long distance? Large diesel pickup or equivalent can't be beat.
That said, enjoying my Model Y Performance. But full price, with FSD, was very expensive! Add sales tax and it approached $100K!

I'll be trading in my model 3 for another brand soon. I thought he was an environmentalist, and bought the car to not only reduce my own emissions, but to help a company that seemed to be trying to reduce Greenhouse gases. Buying that car was the biggest mistake of anything I've ever purchased. The guy is a total loser. He thinks we need to have as many babies as possible, and is fine with rapists choosing the mother of their child, and the rape victim being forced by law to give birth, even if she is 10 years old! Incredible. He supports the coup against the United States, and all the MAGAts that STILL want to overthrow America, and end democracy, and supports the party that has blocked all climate legislation and environmental protections forever. I'm ashamed to be seen in my car now.
This is a such strange logic. Why will the fact VW change CEO has anything to do with VW EV strategy? VW is not a pyramidal organization like Tesla where CEO has the absolute power. And what make you think that new CEO would not be better than Diess?

What's wrong with having a transmission in an EV?! . . . Won't it benefit from more efficient torque and RPM characteristics during speed variations? And then, drivers like manual transmissions, so why not put 1 in a sporty EV? I really wish mine had 1!!!

It's really funny that the old OEMs are basically ruining themselves by bad decisions and delaying. 2023 to 2025 are going to be interesting years with lots of car manufacturers filling media headlines with drama. Or maybe even the media doesn't recognise it until it's too late.

Doing a bit of a Tom's job – perhaps he needs to watch and follow Rimac/Bugatti/Porsche/VW interactions…. where President of Rimac and now Bugatti.. said… that NO BUGATTI WILL GO FULLY ELECTRIC… IT WILL ALWAYS HAVE AN ICE IN IT… Hence… the ouster of VW President… and no amount of Tom's excuses with his f150 will sway the true visionaries of 150 year old PROVEN ICE vs. 2 mins EV crap being shoved up our asses :)…
Please do not repeat same topics… but rather find IMPROVEMENTS… in topics such as… how many would buy/lease an EV again.. after experiencing the dreaded range anxiety or lines for free charge… and possible lines wen you come in… at 5% charge.. and You have 3-5 folks awaiting for each charger – like at Costco gas :)…
or when there is a detour in the road… and you dont have enough charge to get to nexxt charger… and then calling towing company and they refuse to come out… since they wouldn't want to damage your precious tesla :)… Since there isn't yet enough mechanics..
or what about Ford quality – did it improve it ?? One Mach E owner you can find his channel here… was rejected by 2 ford dealerships… since they said – that they CANT fix it !!! so at the 3rd one… he took our many Mach E componants… put them each near ford service bays… and and blocked them with the rest of Mach E – to accept the broken MACH E..
I m sure many EVs work fine… but they limit electricity during hot summer months.. to turn a/c at certain times… can anyone imagine… what would happen when 350kw HOGS crush our grids… with those ev guzzlers :)))…. NOONE is building E infrastructure… like noone required full screen signals for flat TVs… which we overpaid for… watching only half the screen.. and extending it to full or zooming in :)…
Future is HYBRID.. which ford finally believes in… in Mavericks… but now they are having their 5th recall – what does it say – they still can't build ICE right… especially with hybrid…. what about completely new tecnology.. that they never built before ???
