could car reviewers stop using the guessometer as a measure of how many miles they have "lost"? its freaking stupid. it displays how many miles it can go if u continue with the current driving style. if u lend it to your grandpa and it displays 400 miles the next day, don't think u r gonna be able to drive 400 miles unless u keep driving like a grandpa(not my grandpa tho, he was quite a fast driver when he was still able). the reasonable thing to do would be to actually drive dynamically with the AC on for and than drive the same route gently using only ventilation.
On the 40 degree day recently, the model 3 I was driving was using 622kw per mile. Usually it does around 4 – 5 miles per kw.
Very useless test if you know EVs. Aircon, seat- and steereingwheel heating, drivemode etc. nearly no impact on range in reality. Most important for efficiency is the right foot! If you drive carefully you can easily reach WLTP if you drive like an „Mustang“ you can barely reach half WLTP. I drive a different EV, with highspeed on the Autobahn only 150km range is possible, if I drive carefull over 400km is possible.
No lights, music, wipers being used and why oh why run on what appears to be perfectly flat roads. These are not normal for a sizeable percentage of us therefore I will still gauge usable range of EV's as 50% of that given by manufacturers.
not a proper test you have 2 different cars
It you wanted to really drain the battery fast the you should have cranked the heating up to max. That would kill it much faster.
You should of had the heater on not the ac the ac only uses 5% extra, the heater is the thing that uses the most so heater on and windows down would of been a better way in my opinion. It's a known fact in the winter that you put the heated seats and heated steering wheel on instead of the heating, as that is the most efficient way of keeping warm for the least amount of electricity used. So I think you missed a massive thing there.
A quoted range, just like an ice car, is based on a test and used for comparison. Just like driving like a w…..ker in any car you won't get close to the rated range. If it rains, if it is cold, if you use ancillaries you get less range in every car ever made.
Could borrow a term from our maritime friends and call it the bowt.
My experience is that it is speed that kills range. Just run at 70 mph on the motorway and see how far you can get.
0:43: That's gonna make me hot…
Hahaha.
Just discovered Nicola a few days ago…I really like her and all the reviews.
Knowledge, humour, energetic, enthousiasm; very sharp and almoost involving you to her reviews
She's making even a review of a lawnmower interesting, let alone all the cars.
rule #1 …. drive it in the winter.
In order to test to the minimum I would suggest you do a test on a continental motorway (80mph) in the middle of winter. Range is particularly important when you’re motorway driving.
What makes me laugh most about electric cars is when the manufacturers put loads of light strips everywhere and make stuff electrically powered that doesn't need to be like boot opening/closing and even getting rid of door mirrors in favour of cameras and viewscreen. It's like they're TRYING to shorten the range.
Funny how they test EV range with no additional weight in them. If you added a full boot and 4-5 adults, just watch that battery level drop like a stone. Worse still, tow a loaded trailer and range can drop by 50%!
Why don't they quote mpg like they do for ICE cars, urban, 56 and 70?
Do the headlights, windscreen wipers and heated rear screen not use the battery. In winter most of the driving will use all of these as well as the heated seats and heater. What would the range be then with an outside temperature of just above freezing?
How is this a Mustang lol. A Mustang is a muscle car with a 5L petrol engine, not a nondescript SUV shaped thing powered by lithium batteries. FML
A bit underwhelming, surely the easiest comparison metric for people to understand would be miles per kWh rather than batting miles figures about.
1:22 "Where did my energy go?" I ask myself the same question Mustang.
Please test again in similar fashion during winter 🙂
All good on a hot summer's day , think it'll be a very different outcome on a harsh winters drive in the wet, dark , icy roads when you want everything on high !!
What an awful review, if this car is so “super dooper” quiet why is there so much background noise on this review , where the voice of the presenter is drowned out!? Some basic grammar mistakes too which are just annoying in this day and age.
This is what I would call a real world test & as we love to use air conditioning & charge our phones whilst driving. Most cars should show what is their minimum all the way to their maximum in town etc
For a long time I’ve said electric products shouldn’t say “up to” cos it’s a get-out if the product doesn’t live up to the claim, it should have a minimum, so you know that no matter what, you can get that, won’t always be flattering but it’ll be honest, whether it’s vapes, cars, phones, customers deserve honesty when purchasing anything
Spectacular boot covered in denim.
Not really necessary to do a 'test' (other than for Youtube views)! The better way to understand this, so that it can be applied to all EV's, is to understand the rather simple concepts of efficiency and 'miles per kWh'. Based on some very rough maths it should be possible to fully charge a phone 6,800 times from a fully charged Mach-E standard range. In other words, charging a phone isn't going to make a difference to the range. Highly recommend looking into miles per kWh for anyone who wants to get an EV but isn't sure which one is suitable. You need to find out the typical miles per kWh for a given speed and compare this to the battery size. Unfortunately a video like that wouldn't get as many clicks, but you would then truly understand how far an EV will go…
what is that thing oh DAM ugly looking thing that is fu*ked up did thy make this car for a joke did come free whit a pair clown shoes a well, what is going on whit the look of new cars, ford made some of the best looking cars ever were as it gone wrong no no no, plz tell me it's a joke car and not real plz
What an overpriced and outdated EV. That vertical screen is useless for media consumption.
Did you notice that these electric car salesman seem to target women more than men ? .. I wonder why that is ?
I feel sorry for electric car drivers and future owners. They will simply have to learn the hard way .. as I did. These things are a huge hassle, all those lost hours sitting in those charging stations, huge anxiety, plus a outrageous expense in the long run. Good luck trying to sell a used Electric car with wore out battery modules. You'll find out nobody wants to pay the ridiculous price of batteries … Batteries are very … very expensive to replace ( thousands of dollars) … and make no mistake, you will be replacing them. These batteries are highly toxic to our environment, with a high potential for disaster to our surroundings. DON'T FOOL YOURSELF and CERTAINLY, DON'T LISTEN TO A SALESMAN , … LITHIUM BATTERIES ARE NOT GREEN CLEAN ENERGY BY ANY MEANS! …
I wish I knew all this before I bought my car . Do your homework before buying !
I dont think they know the word continuity, EA22XDP, EF70EVM?
So despite the huge -ve bashing against Mach E across Europe its actually a good BeV.
I mean 180 miles out of bashing it is pretty good and I am sure Kia, Hyundai, Tesla wud do better but by how much.. Max maybe 20 miles better than MachE.
Not a huge difference I d say.
I actually liked MachE too.. But there was too many -ve bashing on the internet about it that led me to wait, but now after some owner reviews, I think it still is a great BeV, a strong contender to Kias ev6
It’s weird because it doesn’t say MachE4 but says MachEx that’s the rwd extended range so not the standard battery. I have two one rwd one awd. Maybe it’s different overseas.
Rwd is 247 miles
Awd is 211 miles
Both range is dependent on your driving style. I have gotten 251 miles in my rwd and 220 in my awd driving regularly not making a fool of myself.
I thought it is km in the UK, not miles.
Ha… now try that in Winter. Good Luck 😀
Love the accent … lol
What about lights and wipers?
I only watch for Nicola! ☺️🔥
