Mmm.. time for a bit of The Who. Nice car. Extravagant but cool.
I agree with what you said about performance and handling. I've recently (1yr ago) acquired my dream muscle car, a '69 Plymouth Roadrunner, it's a beautiful car and sounds great but not as fast as I thought it would be. So, I'm planning for some engine work this Winter. π€
That's not the biggest engine, which was the Hemi with over 400 hp the rating were crazy between 390 to over 500 depending on accessories and Dino. They could go between 140mph to 215mph in racing from ( SAME ENGINE)
What a car. Absolutely fantastic looks. Sounds like the same kind of fuel economy as a land rover my parents owned in the 80's!
@5:15 I am pretty sure you know how to drive fast.
@10:37 Yes, prices are crazy. I am not quite sure whether or not good once start at 70k but you easily can pay double the amount.
@12:16 Off course you do. Otherwise you would buy a car that drives like a modern car and doesn't come with a rediculous price tag. π The life cycle of a classic goes like this, relatively affordable, underapreciated and cheap, crazy high because not many of them are left in good condition. π€·ββ
You could have drove my mates 440 rallye pack ( R/T) 69 charger. The R/T had stiffer torsion bars, a 4.11 diff, lsd, quad carbs .additional dials in the dash
12 mph π° that's enough to put me off all show and no go in " standard spec" anyway and far to big for British roads. Give me a mini Cooper s any day of the week lol
Great video though π
charger was the chaser if i recall
More please π
"The man from Toronto" had a nice one
Wait, 70 grand? I'd rather get a brand new Charger for a similar price…
…Those old R/Ts are nice, though…
What is happening in the upper left corner at 5:13??
99% chance if thatβs in UK itβs a clone, like to see the vin, build sheet and fender tag on that car
Clone
A dream car of mine
If I won the lottery there would be one in my garage
Oooohhh A Tic Toc Tach. A pretty rare bird in Mopar circles.
The turn signal indicator thing on the dash wasnt just limted to this, it was on cadiliacs of the time period to let you know your blinker was on, and I think what happened with this car is they went for an upscale luxury muscle car like vibe like they did with Buick and the GS series of Muscle Cars, and the olds 442, as their was hopped up compacts, like the darts, Nova's and he like, midsized like the cudas, and then upper scale like the roadrunners, GTX's and this
also this bodystyle did survive for abit longer than you would think, it was reshaped in 71 but more or less kept alot of the same things, and kept going until 1974
Great video, Ali! The car looks wonderful and hope you are enjoying it and getting it out often
Jay this video was excellent! I only subscribed a few weeks ago but this one stands out for me. Really like your honesty and understanding if what cars like this were and ARE. Watching you tour the lovely English countryside while muttering about left hand drive just makes me want to move up the timeline for my next trip over. Plus hearing you say Brakes! Come on, come on made me laugh out loud. Thanks again! I"m off to watch that Jensen video which I somehow missed!

Must be one of the coolest looking cars ever made … It's a known fact that the charger in Bullitt was faster than the mustang and the charger-driver had to slow it down because of that. You mention that you drove a few muscle cars already and that the charger feels superior to them; what cars were they?
Me and my son were in the car when we heard an ominous noise and ali saying what's that and me saying oh dear
Talladega Nights: "Hey Honey!! Guess how fast we're going? Hunnert and six mile an hour Wooooooooooo!"
Hi American here. First the Dodge Charger R/T was the muscle car version of the charger. The Mustang was a pony car which is a totally different class of automobile. Actually the first 3 years of the mustang didn't have any high performance versions except for the Shelby GT 350. Not all these cars are created equal. You could get a inline 6 or smaller V8s like the 318 or 340. The R/ T was only available with the big block high performance 440 magnum or 426 Hemi V8s. The automatic transmission was actually quicker than the 4 speed manual being Chrysler's legendary drag race proof Torqueflite 3 speed auto. Third the horsepower and torque ratings were actually underrated for insurance reasons and NHRA racing restrictions back in the day. Third these cars are very quick if you're a good driver. The 426 Hemi version could do 0 to 60 mph in 5 seconds and 13 seconds in the quarter mile. Problem is getting all that power to hook up for a good launch off the line. Me personally I like the Pontiac GTOs and Chevrolet Chevelle SS cars more.
One of the most beautiful cars to ever come out of Detroit. Just too bad it isn't a Hemi.
My favorite year of charges 68
Ooooh we share the same dream car. The question is what colour would the vantage be if you were to ever get one?
Fantastic car, my favourite one would be 71 vanishing point challenger but charger is right next to it. Not many cars come cooler and with more spirit that this.
Supposedly the Mustang used in Bullitt had to be significantly breathed on and worked over for the chase scene in the film. The Charger on the other hand was pretty much stock.
Classic American cars might be big and heavy but they look really awesome and sound fantastic
Too many ads!
That is lovely.
R/T means Road/Track.'68 Chargers are,imo,the best year.
That was a regular charge that was not the R T
Double figures for fuel consumption.. I'm impressed!
That thing is worth a quarter million over here. Lol at least 150,000
Throw a hemi in that mother 5.7 liter supercharged out of a srt Cherokee.
The first thing the old timers did was make serous mods. Like a 4 speed hurst shifter. New carburetors, port and polished heads and intake, eliminated A/C and a smaller drive pulled and headers and exhaust there fast after that.
The headlight doors are normally upgraded to electric from the old Vacum which makes them more reliable
There are too many cars on my wish list ahead of any classic muscle car but I still like them plenty, especially around that late 60's era. The only one that could compete for the podium on my list is the old C2 stingray coupe. That design is timeless, one of the very prettiest pieces of metal for the road.
The top trim was the 426 hemi option. The 440 is a torque monster, but the 426 is the top dog for chargers and challengers of the era. Still RT trim, more desirable engine though.
My dreamcar everβ€β€β€β€
12 mpg πππ Eco Charger.
MY DREAM
I came lol
