If this car was a pharmaceutical product in the US, it would come with a warning about increased su!cide ideation.
What an undesirable car!
The Jatco CVT is really the Achilles's heels of this car.
A quick google of Nissan / Renault Jatco transmission problems should give you cause to rethink on buying one .. if you're car is going to be kept longer than the warranty period.
I had the 2018 version before this facelift, the only difference I see is the rear tail light design changed. Nice car but the CVT gearbox was noisy and didn't really deliver the full potential of the 2litre diesel engine.
Great review as always Paul. A few weeks back whilst waiting for the GWM showroom to open for business, the Renault dealership next door had their cars on display (and open); went for a sneaky look-see and was immediately impressed by the Koleos and of it's amazing features and styling..WOW! Then I saw the Arkana RS..damn!! Any chance of an upcoming review on the Arkana???
Guys can you start to give us the 80 – 120 km/h time please. This is far more important in the real world in regards to overtaking.
how is the fuel economy
Real question should be, when are Dacia turning up in Australia? To put real pressure on the budget end of the market.
You definitely can tell on the side profile that it’s just a Nissan.
I was close to getting a Koleos. Styling is nice on the exterior, interior is pretty lux especially in the white. Thought it handled well, reasonably smooth. The reason we didn't get it is because its safety features are SEVERELY underwhelming compared to the rest of the market and the infotainment / dash are pretty poor quality in comparison to others too. I could live with the dash, it's fine, but the infotainment / camera quality was really poor.
With a few teaks/updates, this could be a winner.
Does Renault employ the same Jatco CVT transmission that Nissan does with the X-trail?
Recently had an Arkana as a hire car and the low beams were excellent but high beams were one of the worst I've ever experienced.
You gotta review the Ford Ranger
I have a Koleos Intens 4WD. Have had it almost 18months now and I have to say its definitely a cruiser. I do agree about the engine and transmission being quite rough sounding when pushing it but this is my daily driver and I drive in peak hour traffic everyday. Its very comfortable. The Bose stereo is one of the best stereos i've heard in a car and is tuned quite well for the space inside. I just missed out on the radar cruise control though. Wish I had that. It's not an exciting car to drive but its comfy and has a lot of features.
I would not touch anything french makes, this is a mechanics comment, they are nothing but trouble.
Just came to say hurry up and put up your next gen ranger review! It's the review we are all waiting for!!! Hahahah
Absolutely fabulous 🥳🥳🥳
Why are they so readily available?
Despite the economic downturn, I'm so happy 😊,I have been earning €57,000 returns from my €8,000 investment every 16 days.
Mate you should know that you guys in Australia you get the old dashboard, in Europe you can get it with a full digital dashboard!
I still don't see the point of SUVs that don't even offer AWD as an option. You may as well go for a wagon or minivan; most of which will be more practical and fuel efficient.
Could not stand mine and I sent it back after a month. Was a different purchase after having 3 V6 VW Touaregs, interior was nice but ride and gearbox was rubbish. Went bigger in the end and got a Ford Edge, now this is a proper ride.
It looks more like Mitsubishi Outlander Gen III than the X-trail. I personally think the Mitsubishi Outlander is better than the Koleos, but they already moved to Gen IV for which you need to wait. I was lucky enough to get Gen III 2 years ago, very happy with it.
It's amazing when he talks about this cars competitors and pics of the outlander and Sportage show up I realised how ugly the front ends of the Mitsubishi and Kia's are .
Renault has a long history of making innovative, interesting and great driving cars. Have had at least 20 of them over the years and they’ve all been great.
This is not a Renault and is an embarrassing chapter for the badge… There is nothing innovative or interesting about yet another bloated “suv” sold to the gormless masses.
just bought this week, great car
I have had my Koleos for more than a year now, Drive is so good and it looks so stylish. love it and I think I will buy another Renault in the future again.
I've got the koleos here in Dubai, Bought it when it was first launched in 2017. Amazing car i own two cars one is an outlander(2018) and one is this. In my opinion even after a 150k kms on the clock i would still choose this over any SUV's in its segment love the car and the reliability it offers. Cheers to anybody whos looking to own this beautiful machine.
P.S: In european countries idk why they offer pretty small engines but here they offer a 2.5L petrol engine which puts about 179 hp, so this car reaches about a 180 kmph without struggling after that till 220 kmph it goes but it takes a bit time(30 seconds).
I have four gripes with my 2021 Dynamic FWD. 1st selecting the small AC button on the screen while driving , find that i have to move my eyes from the road to the screen to pinpoint this A/C button which i find is dangerous as you could drift on the road. 2nd. that the auto selection is on the LHS of the selector , are they cheapscates that they could not change this for RH drive cars, how much would it cost them to do this????. 3rd i have had it happen just once only but the whole screen went blank and i could not change anything and it felt like the temp went to hot, Had to take it in to the dealer , found out that they just removed the battery terminal and the system did a full reset. then all ok. otherwise i find it does turn heads with its looks and once you get to know how to accelerate the car then you can overcome that bungee cord effect a bit without getting ticked off with the CVT, dont think i would buy another CVT again, give me that gear to gear feel of a gearbox, and lastly, When riding in cruise control i find that the RPM goes close to max to keep the car speed , (yet the tree does not shrink), but what i have found works it to go into manual mode and then put it into either 6th or 7th gear then the RPM stays low, just haver to remember when i want to overtake to put back into auto,
Front wheel drive 2017 Zen model – still goes good, towing a jetski around in summer is a breeze, just hit the 50,000km mark, no complaints!
Is 45k the driveway price for this fwd top spec? If it is, can you please tell me where to buy? Thanks
Petrol / Gasoline engine on this particular vehicle………but only maximum 6000 RPM?
Own 2018 intens diesel 4×4 since new, no issues, good smooth quiet performance, well built Korean quality. Wife’s daily and has no mechanical sympathy.
Bought 2017 Koleos ZEN in 2018. So far done nearly 60000 km. Absolutely loving the car!
However, I personally recommend changing the transmission oil every 50000 – 60000 km. The dealership tells you that it isn't necessary and you don't ever have change it but do not believe it, CVTs are known as unreliable transmissions and you probably want yours to last longer so do the fluid change I would say.
