You tested the battery on the wrong setting and declared it no good, nice scam scam! It's not the 1st time I've seen you do it
Superglue + baking soda is an interesting idea.
– But why not epoxy…?
That's a cool car and there very good engine's
I would replace the timing belt or check It if it's being sitting for 9 year's
Should the power steering fluid be changed aswell just wondering.
Why is the radio changing stations?
I bought a 2004 Jetta Wagon TDI brand new, I went through 3 turbos and 1 axle boot and gave it to my Son with 287,450 miles on it. I am surprised the flex drain turbo tube was leaking? they have a nylon insert covered by the stainless flex coating. Most people don't get it tight enough by the engine. you need to put a sealant on the fitting which goes into the block which requires a really flat open end to hold the male fitting so you can snug up the imperial fitting from the flex hose. It has to be tight or it will leak? Probably was not tight enough on yours because the person before did not back it up so when he got it tight (he thought) it will spin back loose because of the flex. Valve cover gasket should be rubber and has indents to hold on cover. NO Sealant needed! Make sure both surfaces are clean and dry! I don't know how many miles on the TDI but my Injection rail went bad @ 185,000 miles. It is located right there in the oil right where you pointed at the injectors. Unclip all injectors on the wire loom and unscrew the Big cover nut on the right and you have to work the rail out by twisting 45 degrees at the openings in the head casing from left to right. Pulls out easily but DO IT NOW. For $85.00 while the cover is off! Doing a GREAT JOB!
This man has mastered brake cleaner usage
Rush Rush if I had your MOA I would go nuts
The sun roof note was funny "scared to open it" youre a brave man for just goin for that one first, especially on a mk4 loll also that little box on top of the battery is a little fuse panel link and they always get corroded so you should definitely pop it open and check it. that TDI was very clean for being almost 20 years old!
It is pretty funny to look at USA mechanic, trying to do something with typical Euro Trash like Golf – here in EU every mechanic do this things by heart 😀 With closed eyes 😉
But I'm very interested always about typical USA cars, I never has seen before here 😉
Good Job!
at 32 mins, FLASH LIGHT, GRAVITY
Man I got to watch him remove that 21 twice
You are very rough with delicate parts. Not good for general mechanics reputation. Clients might not be too happy.
Washer fluid looks…. Ok we close that 😱
Ray does many regular things that make me smile, but my favorite is still the brakleen "ANOTHA!" with the faint tinking of an empty can being thrown across the shop.
I don't get how all that (pricey) work can be justified on a car that's really not very special. (Had a similar VW TDI myself). All that work can easily cost more than its actual value.
These VW mid and 2000s always break, I used drive an Audi A4 B7 12 years ago, and the slow-opening mechanism broke as soon as one pushes it to open a bit faster than it goes down. I gave 150EUR at Porsche to replace it, and te new one was super tight, the glove door wouldn't reach bottom end on it's own. Eventually someone broke it again, and I just had a glove box without soft open. The middle cosnole plastic button broke too, and it was a new Audi, it was coming on 4 ears very well preserved German car.
Good job Ray !!!
The battery was labeled "DieHard" perfect for a German car 😂
I'm referring to the movie, just before people starts overreacting 🙈
I love when you show us a EU car …
Just waiting that day when I will see you repair a France car , Renault or Citroen …or maybe Peugeot…
That will be nice to see😅😅😅
Duraltrash parts as always
Battery hold down clamp ,use a magnet n a long extension to push down when you remove magnet ,n use a magnetic socket to install bolt, just suggesting, make it quicker…
Damn just getting miseried, end of video click…
🐊🏌🦅🇺🇲❤️
Have you ever met a mechanic who couldn't drive a manual transmission?
🐊🦅🇺🇲👍
The air gun/brake cleaner combo is something I use often…from a Cummins technician lol GREAT WORK!
shieeet, Kal Tire just sold me 10 year old tires… hope I don't die in my first vehicle
I absolutely LOVE customer notes! No guess work & sometimes they make my day. 😀🙂😄
I had a limited edition 1986 Volkswagen Jetta Wolfsburg edition and I sure wish my fuel filter and things like that were located like this the whole fuel pump and fuel filter was under the car on the right rear section $500 to replace it but these are some really dependable cars if taken care of and whoever owns this VW has pride and love in that car you can tell by just how clean it is
I dig the shop DJ
27:47 I hear someone playing cradle of filth!
If I knew where and you were, close enough; I'd bring in my truck to sort out the lack of hazard lights. Also a wtf overview from you. Never mind you start it with a railroad spike…
I truly hate VWs… and this video reminded me why I hated my job at a VW dealership.
Is it negative battery terminal missing a nut or is it just a post?
The radio didn't like staying on one station. It kept switching around.
u doing a fantastic job Ray. I look forward to seeing episode 2 or more. Have yourself a fantastic Day 😀
You really that way you start this old diesel?Just turn a key?😲😲😲😳😳
I really enjoyed this one. I've broken more than my share of little plastic bits that shouldn't have been so thin. I've also run 10 year old tires longer than they should ever have (1800 miles) at higher speeds than we should have. Just didn't realize they were 10 years old until the first got a flat and they "can't repair it". Every time you said "this looks easy" on that turbo drain I cringed. More than once have I looked and saw how easy something was only to drop a very special bolt into a spot it took me hours to get out. Much like your degrease technique, I like to hit the battery area with neutralizer including the cable ends before wire brushing. We get 2 years outta a battery, doesn't matter what brand or years of warranty so I give them every fighting chance.
I miss my 2002 Jetta. I do not miss the 1.8T that was in it however. Stupid german engineering. The oil pickup got full of gunk, it lost oil to the top and wiped the cam bearing surface of the head…
i couldnt work with that background music
God damn thing went Peter North on you
I've used a heat gun when I play around with old plastic parts
