Also, not a fair comparison. We don't know how both of these vehicles were maintained by their owners. It is likely the BMW was well maintained while the Lexus was not.

Matt us aussie already did this with a 4L AU FALCON and a VS COMMONDORE. all the belt where cut etc limited until dead and its said the next morning they refitted new belts to the falcon and it kept going

You would think car makers would engineer car engines to stop if there is insufficient oil pressure, before any damage occurred. I suppose they benefit from the destruction, so why bother.
I think its a win for Japan. Their electronic system decided to save the engine, and as a result the owners wallet by just killing the engine of which letting it keep on running would result in a more technical repair than just adding more oil.
The Bimer on the other hand decided, person might be rich, full engine replacement is what we are aiming for, keep on running
I don't know. It's heartbreaking to see such prestige cars fallen from grace. They were the pinnacle of the automotive industry back in their days and now they ended up like this 🤦🏻♂️
