Great sound and recording quality and the real life information. Thank you Brian
And listen, your going to have problem cars where God knows what can pop up. You can think you did everything perfect and who knows why it may fight ya. It's how you remedy the situations that makes you good. A good painter isn't just a guy who can lay down paint well. It's how good he can remedy issues that pop up and fix potential mistakes, and how clean things are at the end.
I'm a house painter by trade, but do alot of custom finish spraying with lacquers and enamels, and I've stepped over into some motorcycles and helmet painting. I've been binging your videos for a few months just soaking up knowledge to get ready to paint my 2011 wrx. Replacing wheel well liners and bumper is coming, and the absolute most frustrating part is just catching up with all the different products. Product knowledge is an experience thing. And I'm looking for a good paint without killing the bank account, and a good 2k clear I've popped some hail dents, and have did some rust remediation and the bumper is like a week out. I'm not worried about the application so much, more so finding a good location to keep the dust and dirt outta my work. Thats what has me most worried. I'm excited to get into it.
How hot is it in the booth when you’re spraying base?
Excellent as usual. I question. I have heard and read so much scary information about the health hazard of the Urethan paints. Mostly it gets into your body if any part uncovered, specially through your eyes. How is it that mostly I see Brain not using any face mask, and most of the time even the mask is not new? I can underestand if you do it this way once or twice as a project in your garage, but doing it every day? Is the whole over exaggerated ?
This is why I always show when I screw something up, we all make mistakes and it is important to know that you can fix it.
just want to type that your mic is superb! you sound great and the level is very steady! great work!!
Where are you buying the plastic the covers the entire car or truck?
Is there a reason you didnt blend a short section of the "A" pillar and just left it butt up ?
Other than time and cost I mean ?
Thank you so much for sharing
Honest and Truth are the same thing. Redundant.
I'm so sick of painting I'm getting out of it. Have my own one man band but time to move on and build just for myself.
Almost forgot to tape it back the pillar😄
Pearl is so much more difficult than metallic seeming its a finer metallic
I like your me sprsy method you use tohelp blend better.
I am not a pro but am very particular about my paint looks and usually have a little better than most amatures. Not to dis anyone just understand what looks good in all light. Made my share of mistakes and tries to remember each one.
No we dont want to wait the big hitter painters the 100k a year guys are all commission pay and we cant wait more then 3 minutes per flash time. honestly im glad I dont work at the slave drive Caliber Collison 100k a month shops anymore.
Brian, years ago when I was watching the “old timers” paint . (Before I painted at body shop full time) One of them told me , the mark of a “Good Painter “ is one whom can roll with the punches and keep it movin’. In short when things go sideways in the booth you can still make it happen.
Brian have you ever used a paint camera for color matching? I paint thousands of cars and digitally match everything I paint.. never any tinting needed. The technology in the camera is incredible!
I have a white pearl car that is getting repairs on the bumper and the fender . I have to to the proper methods you suggest with epoxy and flex filler after for the bumper and pushing out the metal first to minimize no do and then a flexible filler after .
My question is after I apply the 2k primer, do I apply clear sealer on over the entire primed area and part of the bumper to seal or only mid way of the primed area to blend And if I do apply clear sealer over the 2k primer do I still have to sand the primer with 320, 400, 600 and use scuff tuff with wet sanding like you’ve suggested? 😖
Excellent points!
Nice job Brian. Looks awesome. If that was my car I’d be perfectly happy with it.
Hey Brian, I think there are scammers impersonating you. Are you giving any prizes lately?
Thanks for this, gave me the courage to walk away from a shady lemon lot I was working at knowing that there are people out there that won't cheat lie or take the easy way out
I needed this. Im in collision repair school right now and getting a lot of praise from my instructors, but my head is in the shop Im going to and the reality of the job.
👍👍👍👍👍
The sound is very good, thank you for helping us with your experience.
I just subscribed, starting to do the bodywork on my 81 corvette I found under a tree for a decade. The body is in decent shape, and so far no rust found, only has 68,000 miles on it. Planning to be painting it by next spring. I haven't done any painting for a long time (late 70's early 80's). And needed some tutorials so I don't screw it up. I do alot of composite repairs due to working on aircraft. Fiberglass and carbon fiber repairs. But I've been out of the painting game for awhile. So keep doing that voodoo you do, and I'll be taking notes. Thanks.
recently had to teach myself a trade. Homeless and been watching your videos so I got a job doing body work after my main job. I appreciate your videos for showing some kid who used to paint his bmx bikes with natural talent some techniques and data points to work off of. Your videos have powered me with alot of knowledge and the ability to have some patience and let a good job outshine a fast one. Could you make a video on purchasing paint and paint matching different budgets. In ag we have nutrient sets, I imagine there is something similar in paints. All information is appreciated as I need to calculate stuff for shop budgets and purchasing wholesale to save on costs.
can you give us a part number for the mixing/pouring caps for the gallon paint cans
Good as always. Here is a crazy question….when you lay on the pearl are you using a clear base to carry it or your blending color base?
As far as blending a pillar. Not saying necessary in this instance. Instead of doing whole uniside just blend the clear then melt it with blender. Been doing that for past 20 years if the piller area isn't to wide. Never had an issue to date. Wouldn't do on a larger one like camaro or challenger.
Hello what wireless microphone do you use- Thxs
What is the difference between sealers and primers
I am going to have to paint outside as I can’t fit the van in the garage and I don’t have a shop. The advice on taking out defects will be invaluable.
Great channel man. Always love your approach and info. Ypu mentioned your a teacher. I was wondering what you teach?
oh man thanks for v all b the tips and tricks and knowledge. awesome channel! I used to get scared on my first coats but that's the magic of painting….you can always get it on the next coat. don't stop and think you have to be 100 percent first pass
Sound is good I barely notice the fans great job!
Are you using water based product Brian?
From the looks I would say it's solvent but I'm not sure
Guess you never saw dirt in a GM factory finish lol
Salut, sunt începător și as vrea sa vopsc toată mașina 1k sau 2k nu știu ce să aleg ? Ea este vopsita 2 k negru Schwarz 2 668
Get a rupes big foot and you will like to buff 🙂
You have a natural gift for instruction and honest ( not artificial ) confidence building – well done!
Man, if you get some dirt and debris on the panels when painting in that controlled environment I don’t stand a chance in my shop, haha.
I just started working on painting in my garage. I have learned alot from your videos ! You keep it real and problems that I have run into, I am able to fix and not make the same mistake again.
Hello Mr Brian thank you for your channel yesterday I started to paint in my garage and im happy for the result even I dont have spray booth. not bad for first timer, because of your tutorial videos. thanks much. Godbless
I hope this would inspire Instead of discourage
Should've blended the "A" pillar. But good job
