As much as it pains me to say this, I'd keep with the LS theme. The XT needs a V8, if it has to be LS well so be it. Lol. Everyone does Barra swaps keep it outside the square. Besides you already have all the LS .bits

LS the XR ute. Fitting another will be easy after having done two already. Maybe consider a 383ci stroker rotating assembly if you are using an LS1. Either turbo or Harrop forced induction. Harrop would require less fabrication?
I reckon either LS turbo the ute or build another E-series

The only way to go is turbo Clevo, it will bolt straight in.
You can buy amazing alloy heads and cams for them now and don't forget the other name for an LS is 'modern day Clevo'

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate ,what a awesome question to put to the unwashed ,be interesting to read the comments ,grew up with v8s all my life so once it gets in your blood its hard to drop 2 cylinders and then arrange them all straight ,dont look the same dont vibrate the same ,having said that my current car is by far my quickest street car ive owned ,yes its a LS in a VY SS with the usual cam hi stall cold air tune etc etc ,most cars dont bother at the lights as its loud and lumpy ,most except turbo Barras those engines and a fifth of the fkn coin ive dropped into my LS just stomp my car ,bottom end mid range high end ,especially if they run a built auto ,Mackie if i were you id step over to the dark side and BARRA that ol XT ,great channel real down to earth lookin forward what comes next
